their baked goods are my favourite in the city! fresh, creative and i can always find something new to try. their breakfast sandwiches are also delicious, however, expect to wait a bit of time since they're making them fresh to order :) surprisingly, their pizzas are my favourite thing to order! that pizza crust is so crispy and flakey and they're quite large so you can definitely split between 3-4 people. love the addition of sidewalk citizen and the simmons building to east village. it's an absolutely beautiful space.

5/5 for the absolute most delicious bread pudding i have ever tasted. sandwiches are amazing but i still say that our daily brett has the best sandwiches in calgary. but i would make a trip to calgary, if i weren't already blessed to live here, for that bread pudding. oh, and the brownie with maldon salt. dear lord. two things i wish to be buried with.

simmons is an absolute treasure- even before one soul has moved into the condos in east village, this magnificent structure has completely transformed the neighbourhood- before, i repeat, before the condos have seen move-ins. east village is going to out-pearl-district portland's pearl district.

sidewalk citizen was always awesome in their kensington location. the only problem was it was super cramped. this new location really lets them shine with the space to serve their amazing food in style overlooking the bow river. the pastries we tried were amazing! a triple chocolate cherry cookie and peach cheese cake. the flat breads we had for dinner felt like they should have been served in a fancy sit down restaurant and not a cafe style deli. great location. great food.

the food at sidewalk citizen was delicious and the service was quick! staff were friendly when answering questions and the menu was laid out clearly for guests.

everything is so amazing. i stopped looking at ingredients on the pizza and sandwich boards because i trust that anything i order will be tasty.

the staff is so patient and kind, giving each person (in their never ending line) great service.

i feel they could charge so much more for their offerings, but i'm not complaining. one staff told me it was important that all calgarians can afford their food, which is so great to hear! love this place.

found the new location to be busy and the lineup slow. overall the bread and pastries are pretty good, not the best ever or anything. i was disappointed that they are no longer making fresh sandwiches, only the pita was fresh and it wasn't that good and very overpriced. i'm not sure what it is about this company that i don't like, is it the over the top hipster vibe or the miserable looking staff? not sure i'll be back any time soon.

great selection of baked goods as long as they have them. small batches means everything is fresh. only negative comment is the service. every time i go there the ladies at the counter don't seem very happy about helping people

this place is so ridiculous. everything is delicious. just got a turkey pizza with tomato mushroom and pesto. the crust was thick and crisp and soooo good. tried the chocolate babka and was shocked at how good it was. there can be no other babka! the woman told it would last about 4 days - as if! i'll be lucky if i don't finish it before i get home. worth the money, worth the trip. just plain awesome.

sidewalk citizen is where it is at for artisanal baked goods. and whether you want a pain au chocolat or a rustic loaf of bread (all leavened with sourdough starter), they have variety (make sure you go on friday or saturday for the best selection). danishes, cookies, muffins, scones, you name it. they even make sandwiches and pizza at lunch time. their brownies are also divine. rich and fudgy, none of that cakey brownie crap.

good heavens that's good!. just stopped in for the first time and ordered a pepper salami sandwich. i decided to be adventurous and try something new, one of the best sandwiches i've ever had.

i know, you're thinking "sandwich?". oh, but a good sandwich is so much more than two pieces of bread with some filling in it. this was soooo good, the salty salami with a black olive salad, the mozzarella was so creamy and tangy....the combination of ingredients was so delicious. the portion size was generous too. seriously worth the drive. i will be back.

i'll be back...tomorrow!. now that i've finally figured out where scb is, i shall return. apparently they only make croissants on fridays and saturdays and that was my primary reason for going.
i did buy lunch, a delicious pulled roasted chicken sandwich and for later, a sourdough loaf and a baguette.
but what i'm really after is a croissant. good thing tomorrow is friday!

bakery goodness. chinook mall brought out us to this area on a saturday and since we were here i knew we had to seek out this little bakery for a snack. we stopped in right after lunch and some of the supply was getting low. but we managed to get us some ciabatta bread, sticky buns and ham/cheese croissants. omg yum. yup it was all amazing.

we fought over the sticky buns, the croissants were buttery/flaky/fabulous and the ciabatta...well 3 of us sat around the island eating it later that day completely in heaven. we didn't eat it all and a couple days later i found what was left and quickly made it into croutons. (waste nothing)

they have a small but delicious variety of items to choose from in the bakery and i look forward to dropping by again soon to partake in more yummy goodness.

wow, wow, wow.. i like sandwiches. i know my sandwiches. these are some ... okay the best sandwiches in calgary. unpretentious. simple. fresh. everything you want. go early, or you might be disappointed that the sandwich is sold out (got the last meat sandwiches today). freshly baked bread is the key - it's perfect. haven't tried their pizza, but it sure looked good. got scones to go - again, absolutely delicious. we will be back again and again.

it’s a tiny takeout place where you can watch a team of bakers (surrounding a huge mound of rising dough, from a four-year-old sourdough culture) create, say, challah bread, long cheese sticks, sour cherry scones, rectangles of roasted vegetable pizza and blueberry-topped, glazed danishes.

beautiful offerings from aviv and chef colin!. often we arrange our timing to include a stop at sidewalk citizen for lunch, and honestly, we are rarely disappointed. chef colin and aviv team up beautifully to create interesting sandwiches and pizza (fri/sat) for a fair price ($8.50 per sandwich; $16 for a large pizza). the bread is the star of the show, but the toppings whether it be lamb, pulled pork, or poached egg have all been lovely. i speak only for those that we have tried as the pork belly and roast beef didn't make the cut.

of note in the pastry department are aviv's cheese sticks (oh my!), and dark chocolate brownies. personally, i don't recommend his chocolate chip cookies as i find them to be quite overdone, but perhaps that's just me!

all in all, lovin' sidewalk citizen!
