i was initially surprised with the food as the restaurant does not look like anything special from the outside. great food, try the house made bread.

i've been coming here for a few years and love the food. the chicken schwarma is top notch; meat is moist and i recommend having it in a samoon instead of pita. the mixed grill (combo of beef and chicken) with rice is great. it's enough for about 2-3 meals. the hummus, baba ghanouj, and tabouli are tasty too. complimentary tea included and free wifi.

great food, but overpriced. either give more beef, or the quality should be better. a little tough.

after seeing this restaurant in as a favorite of the reviewers in buffalo spree's cheap eats i decided to finally check it out. as it was, i'd been craving some middle eastern food, so i stopped in with my boyfriend.
the restaurant was vacant for the middle of the day on saturday but it was a nice atmosphere anyway. my boyfriend ordered the shirwarma chicken sandwich in a pita wrap, and i had the kebab sandwich in the iranian samoon bread. we also ordered some of the hommus. i have to say, it was pretty tasty. i had never had the samoon bread and it really great as a sandwich. nice taste on the food all around. the free tea was steamy and hot, and wonderful on a cold day!

for the price of $15 it's totally worth the visit! a truly great cheap eat!

great food, great prices. the food was great, the portions were very generous, and the people were polite. really, that's all i want, good food at a great price. will definitely be going back. i suggest trying the sampler/mix for $12.99 and getting a taste of the different kinds of meat. the roasted chicken is delicious!

cheap, delicious and unique. i love to sample new foods and i was stoked to see this place serves some iraqi items. the samoon sandwhiches here did not disappoint. super cheap but amazingly delicious. i got a falafel samoon, my date a chicken shiwarma and both were amazing (my second favorite falafel after falafel bar). the samoon bread is a football shaped pod, lightly crispy on the outside & super soft inside, that is slit down one side and stuffed with your choice of filling, veggies and tahini. it keeps the fillings in really well, plus the soft inside soaks up the delicious juices. we also got apps - hummus for him and baba ganoush for me. both were large portions and very tasty, served with a basket of pita and another samoon. they also offer free, selve-serve hot tea that is quite yummy. service was fast and friendly. restaurant was simple but cute and clean.

great value. i ordered some of those iraqi sandwiches for take out last friday. i am really glad there is an establishment where you can get good middle eastern food at a reasonable price. let me start by saying that i love good gyros (like vasilis express), and this is in many ways similar. obviously, different spices are used and you can choose from a variety of meats for the shawarma. for only 4 bucks you can have deliciously filling iraqi bread sandwich, and believe me, it tastes extremely good.

i wouldn't dine in at this place, but it is perfect for take out. the free tea is nice touch as well. i'll definitely be back again. so if you feel like trying something new, and have had enough of gyro, give this place a try. it's nothing fancy, but it certainly hits the spot.

hopeful.. i so badly want to like shish kabob express but both times i visited for lunch they didn't have any of the tasty looking iraqui bread ready and last time around the beef schwarma was dry dry dry. however, their hummus is really fantastic (perfect tahini balance) and the fact that they have israeli style pickles built into their sandwichs is kickass.

there's a new iraqi sandwich shop in town, and if you're a fan of made-to-order kebab, shawirma, or falafel, you must get there immediately. for the unbelievable price of $3.49, you'll find yourself in possession of an enormous roll, called a samoon. tucked inside will be tasty slices of whatever protein you select (options include beef, chicken, and falafel), along with tomato, pickles, onions, lettuce, garlic sauce, and tahini sauce. iraqi samoon has been described as a rugby ball-shaped cross between a bagel, a panini, and a soft white roll. this is a fair description, except it really doesn't capture the deliciousness that is samoon. (you can also choose to have your sandwich wrapped in a pita, but the samoon is where it's at.) add a drink from the cooler for $1.25, and you'll walk out of shish kebab express with a meal (and a half, perhaps) for under $5. on a recent dinner visit for our party of three, we chose to get three sandwiches ($3.49 each) and a can o

i have to give credit where credit is due, i had absolutely no idea that shish kabab express existed until i read rachel fix dominguez's review on buffalo spree's website this week. i've been dying for a good shawirma (no thats not a typo, that's how it's spelled on their menu) since returning from europe and hearing that shish kabab express was serving a pretty authentic meal and it was less then $4 for a sandwich, i was sold. so as a celebration of my last day at my old job, alli and i decided drive down to hertel ave to get some middle eastern cuisine. quick info: restaurant type: casual cuisine: middle eastern price: sandwiches $4, main dishes $8-11, sides $3 location : north buffalo while shish kabab express has a nice menu of middle eastern classics (kabab's, falafel, beef/chicken tikka, baklava), alli and myself decided to keep our dinner cheap and each order a shawirma. you'll immediately notice the the simple "diner" like atmosphere and decor when you walk in; you're not going
