great food. eat at the ship lots, mainly for lunch. great features, delicious lamb shank and great burgers. haven't been in the evenings, it's always packed and lined up, i guess that says it all. my tip is go for lunch it's great!

if you are ever visiting calgary, just for a weekend, you must go here. it was one of the first pubs i went to, and definitely have been back again and again. it's pretty much a calgary icon - try to go for punk rock bingo on thursdays - it's super fun! the nachos are always amazing - such reasonable prices for food and drinks! definitely pleasing for all crowds - especially when the patio is open - one if the best ones in the city by far.

just a good place to go. there is nothing that jumps out to me at the ship and anchor pub, but for some reason it has an interesting appeal to it. i recommend checking it out

ugh.. not trying to be prissy or anything here, but i have been to the ship on several occasions and always see something grotty. just ew. this one night i went, it was like an entire section of people had drifted together because they all reeked the same way: sweaty, rotting balls. gross? i know lots of people like it because the crowd is what "it" is; what "it" is, i have no idea. they could work on their speed/friendliness/accuracy of service, the hostility and prettiness of their servers, and lighting. i know i'm ugly, but when i'm blind and ugly, its really not going to be a good thing. patio is great during the summer, and yes, the beer is cold, and yes, drinks of all sorts can be ordered, and yes, either species of human can go to meet the opposite, or same species. so. there we have it. i'm complaining, i won't go back, but its there.

the ship and anchor is bar none my favourite stomping ground in calgary - a veritable home away from home...

brunch was really good. we went there on a sunday, when it was quieter and not so busy as in the evenings. the omelette and breakfast burrito were one of the bests i've had around here.

standard pub grub. the breakfast we had was simple and tasty. not to mention that they serve mimosas. winner!

very disappointing. the food at the ship was very poorly prepared and over priced. my steak salad was literally a bowl of only lettuce and overcooked steak that was overcooked and a cheap cut. no flavor and a very unoriginal menu. p.s. the staff should start wearing deoderant, it would be less offensive. the patio also smells like rottten urine in the heat. they should hire an actual chef to upgrade the menu and teach the staff how to cook.
will never return.

ship & anchor… it’s like coming home. i haven’t been to this spot in years! a favourite of mine in the mid-90s (although i have passed it many times since, while perusing 17th ave). always busy and still looking the same, it was like coming home to ol’ faithful when my friend and i dropped in on a saturday afternoon and hung out on their fantastic patio! it’s amazing how, in all this time, things haven’t really changed: same attitude, same ambiance, same disinterested service from the waitress, same great greasy food (ship fries $4.50), and same great prices on low-quality beer (pint of pbr $5.95)! it’s comforting to know that no matter how long you’ve been away, the ship & anchor is a spot you can return to and pick up where you left off! good on ya guys!

the good old chimp & spanker. i'm completely suprised that the s&a is still there. i used to live a few blocks south of the bar in the late 80's early 90's. the ship was always packed back then because it was tied for the best bands, broads and booze with the republic, just down the way on 1st st. & 17th. long live the ship!

overall, the ship has everything going for it. because of that, it’s always ridiculously packed. which is why i don’t like it despite the fact that i do like it. make sense? i’m claustrophobic and hate waiting in line, so if you’re like me, take this advice: for patio-sitting on a friday or saturday you legit need to get there before noon. no lies. regulars are there bright and early because they know this. throughout the week and especially on a friday or saturday, if you want to get in with no line and have a table, get there early and go for dinner. the food is good. i recommend the goat cheese and veggie salad.
