excellent!. i went there with my mother who doesn't know much about sushi or japanese cuisine. the waitress gladly explained every page of the menu to her in detail. they even attended to my gluten free allergies. everything on there menu is labeled if you have gluten allergies. they also have gluten free soy sauce. the food was absolutely delicious!

loved it! my flew into from out of state and my friend and i wanted something affordable and delicious. went to shema sushi and our waitress was wonderful and patient with my jet lagged mind. we ordered the japanese fries and philly rolls. the fries were so good and the philly rolls were the freshest rolls we've ever had! in the middle of dinner the owner came out and talk to us. she was so sweet and made our experience there even better! also the outdoor patio was perfect on a summer night!

best sushi in rochester! i've been a customer since they opened in webster and relocated to alexander st. the sushi is so fresh and the owners will make any substitutions to your roll that you want. a bit slow so don't come if your in a rush, but the quality of food makes up for that.

newly opened - same great food. shema just moved to 277 alexander (much bigger place than they had in webster). went for dinner the other night, the food was perfection as always. had the snow white roll - killer! their ika tempura was crunchy and tasty as always. can't wait to go back (perhaps still time today...).

in the same building as the old toad.

say it with me "mmmmm". while out for a walk in the village i came across shema sushi. to be honest, i wasn't expecting a sushi restaurant in the village of webster. i was curious (and love sushi) so i decided to run in and check it out. the women working were really great - friendly, helpful, and overall just fantastic service. i tried the edamame, gyoza, and miso soup first. they were good, but nothing close to the quality that i had from the fish in the rolls i ordered. i wasn't hoping for miraculous sushi from the village, but the fish that they have at shema is fantastic. tasted just like my favorite sushi haunts on the west coast. super fresh and delicious...i don't know where they get their fish, but this is the most impressive fish (taste/grade-wise) i've had anywhere near this region. top it all off everything came out perfectly timed (rather than some restaurants that are dump your appetizer, soup, and main all off within 3 minutes of each other). this is the place i'm taking any visiting friends or co-workers to for sushi.

great place, great people. my girlfriend and i went to shema after seeing the great reviews on this website. we expected to have a good meal, but what we got was much more. the sushi itself was delicious, but the service was even better. our server came over to the table and explained the menu to us, asked us what we like/dislike or if we are allergic to anything, and she made some suggestions based on what we told her. she was very knowledgeable about all types of sushi, and was more than happy to stick around and chat with us about other types of sushi we may enjoy to order in the future. it's nice to find a place that is willing to give that little extra to provide exceptional service.

we try to go to shemas every couple of weeks. if nothing else, this place doesn't reek of fish ruining your appetite before you even sit down! the staff is lovely and accommodating. the food is so good and it's not expensive. i recommend it to everybody

shema sushi is the best sushi hands down. in my opinion its 5 star eats on a 2 star budget. i love the quaint atmosphere as well as the hospitable service. i dine here at least two times a month and have not had a bad meal yet.

first i want to begin by saying that shema suchi, is far from being cheap and second, i never been to a suchi place before that serve their avocado as hard as a plastic ;). they are very good people but when it comes to their food, not even close to takka or fugia, witch are both just down the street and cheaper.
