lamb shanks from heaven. so, i literally just finished eating at shandiz 30 minutes ago. the moment i got home, i felt like i needed to write a review for this place. the owner was such a wonderful and kind man. we asked him to bring us his specialties, and our table of nine was floored when the food hit the table. he brought is a giant plate of saffron rice that was cooked perfectly, then a gargantuan platter of beef kebab, lamb shanks, and chicken kebab. for my vegetarian friend, he brought out a bowl of gorme sabzi (a persian specialty of stewed greens and kidney beans). we feasted like kings. what really stood out was the lamb shanks, they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. the chicken kebab was also unbelievably perfect. it was also a pleasure to learn that all of the meat comes from the owner's butcher next door where he has a grocery store, and the majority of that meat comes from local farms. after what felt like an all star treatment, he served us complimentary baklava and tea after our meal. i truly wish i lived in plano so i could eat at this restaurant regularly.

today i thought i’d give this place another go, but the food is horrible, service is extremely poor, our waitress wouldn’t get off her phone! won’t be coming back for sure. if i could’ve tipped her -30 bucks i would’ve. dirty, dirty place! food looked old and there was a roach next to the food moving back and forth. the waitress saw the roach and didn’t even care. you’ve surly disappointed me yet again!!

from start to finish i was disappointed at the service.
at the front door no one welcomed us. we had to sit ourselves on a not clean table. the waitress was more interested in texting rather providing us with silverware.
i love the selection of persian buffet but most dishes were cold or not enough. there was soup section with no soup bowl. i had to beg the waitress twice for the bowl.
selection of salad is awesome and the fish and kabob is to die for. food tasted wonderful except the service.
there are lots of options for persian cuisine in plano and i’ll never go to this one.
thumbs down 👎.

nope it's not greek and not quite mediterranean: it is iranian/persian, close but not the same, and equally as delicious.

lunch buffet is a good way to explore: grilled and roasted lamb and chicken, lamb shank (you must pair it with the green rice), salads, spinach stew, bean stew, 'mezza' items and more.

they also have natalie's cookies for dessert.

this place is awesome. the reviews i have just read must have been from people that are not used to this style of food! i highly recomend this place but watch out if you go in for the buffett you will eat too much! they have by far the best fresh fish in all of texas! i would have bet that it was fresh caught trout from a river from where i am from. and thier lamb and gyro is second to none!!! amazing food. i cant wait to go back :-)

horrible food and very bad service. please donot go to this restaurant. we went for buffet on a weekday and the food and service were horrible.buffet is expensive considered the number of items they serve.not many veg and chicken options.no labels for food, so no idea what u are eating.we barely ate anything as we didnot like the taste and quality at all, and ended up with a huge bill. the pita bread is dry and hard.hummus wasn't served until asked for and didn't taste good either.we so regreted on going here without reading any reviews.just writing this review so others won't make the mistake of going there as we did.

yuck. my mom and i have been here twice. the first time was late ( close to closing) and we ordered hummus for an appetizer. the hummus tasted like it came straight out of a can. it was so disgusting we couldn't even eat it
then for dinner we ordered kubideh kebab and it was dry and undercooked even though i ordered mine well done. it tasted like they just had some sitting out and reheated it in a microwave.

we decided to give it a second chance since we had gone there so late that night so we tried it again one evening at an earlier time. same slow service and same gross food.
this restaurant is expensive considering the quality of food they're serving you and the service completely sucks.

i wont go back there again.

they do have a nice store though next to the resturaunt that has a large variety of middle eastern foods.

not recommended at all. chicken, beef , lamb, rice , stew and everything taste the same. i guess the chef only one spice. chicken was pink and burnt from outside. go to sheshkabobs cafe instead. price is cheaper and the food is way better.

food is good, service is slow. i was a little nervous about trying shandiz after reading the mixed reviews, but i thought the food was quite good. my friend and i both had the lunch buffet.

the service was a little slow, but not nearly as bad as i was expecting. i easily made it back to work on time. it just took a little eye contact to get a water refill.

worst experience ever. do not go to shandiz, service is slow, and forgetful. we waited 1 hour for our salad, and another 20 minutes for the meal. 3 tables around us( that came in after us) were served befor us. the bread was dry and stale, too hard to eat. the order was wrong. and my boyfriend was served the wrong order all together.
never go there.
