shakey's

i actually don't know why but i always have this impression that shakey's menu is quite pricey or a bit overpriced (considering the all aspects like food, service, etc) that is why i seldom dine here. but realizing they have wholesome combos, that impression already vanished. you might think this si just some sort of not so real promo or marketing tactics just to give the image of affordability with good food, you should stand corrected. i can attest to the combos or meals they serve for it's really "sulit".

being someone with a big appetite, i decided to go for super platter meal to have the mix of everything like soup to pasta to chicken & mojos to pizza and salad. no drinks included in the combo i don't actually mind because i have my water bottle with me.

i super super super loved the soup and salad! the perfect chicken and corn soup i've ever tasted. you know the feeling that the soup is just made out of cubes or seasoning. this one i bet is real. the salad has the freshness you would ever want for your veggies. how i wish the salad serving would be plentier. spaghetti is fine, not to sweet and not to sour. pizza is hawaiian so i having nothing negative to say coz it's my forever favorite pizza flavor. lastly, i forgot to request i wanted tie part for my fried chicken, i think i got ribs?. unfortunately the chicken was dry and seemed like fried on old cooking oil, good thing the gravy somehow brought up the taste.

it’s been a while since we’ve last eaten at shakey’s, but we’re back thanks to bpi! the classics never get old — pepperoni pizza, skilleti, carbonara, mojo’s n dip. only comment i have is on the mojo’s dip, as we preferred gravy. we requested from the waiter but sadly, it never came.

this is my second time trying this place. it's really convenient but the taste keeps getting worse. i always get the pepperoni pizza and wings, but unfortunately i taste less of it and the pizzas are straight up bland.

what we ordered:
- large hand-tossed hi-protein supreme: the ‘buy 1’ pizza since we have a shakey’s card, we availed their buy 1 take 1 deal which already includes a free 1.5l coke. what i like about shakey’s is unlike other pizza outlets, you’re free to choose the flavor of your buy 1 pizza, no limitation. anyway, i love their pizza! very cheesy and it was delivered to us piping hot. there were lots of toppings too so that’s always a plus!
- hawaiian - our take 1 pizza. it was also a hit hehe.
- chicken & mojos - not pictured, but it was good too!

we had the pizza delivered, so if the delivery guy didn’t specifically tell us what branch, i most likely would post this on their other branch’s page since it’s nearer to us. anyway, really love the delivery guy’s attitude - very smiley and positive. ☺️

almost all of the food chains here in lucky chinatown are chinese restaurants. ofcourse, because it it located in binondo and by the name itself. had dinner with my friends and we chose not to dine at any chinese resto anymore because whenever we go out, it is always dimsum night hehe. we only have few options and we just picked shakeys. availed the ber month promo, deal 2 which consist of pasta, chicken (7pcs) and mojos, party size pizza, iced tea pitcher and free mojos supreme. totally satisfied.

we had our lunch here to avail the free pizza for supercard member. lasagna is one of my favorite but i did not enjoy their prima lasagna. cheese flavor is lacking. aglio olio pasta is much better. manager's choice pizza still the best. chicken and mojo's.. ambience is good customer service as well..

tried out their new scallop primo pizza yesterday and i was very disappointed by it. first, they need to revamp their supercard deal other pizza chain nowadays are going all out with their buy 1 take 1 promo, but for shakeys they limit the choice for the take 1 instead of having the customer to choose any pizza on their menu which is very disappointing and the fact that you paid for the card yearly unlike other pizza chain that gives out their buy 1 take 1 privilege for free. the pizza delivered was a minute early and yet the pizza ain’t hot anymore also tasted too salty for both pizzas we ordered.

we ordered lasagna, onion rings,  mojos and rootbeer float.

lasagna is okay, but a bit expensive. i've had better lasagna's before so this one did not impress me that much. serving is also small.

onion rings are good, i like it. who wouldn't? lol

mojos are great of course! it's given.

rootbeer is refreshing. reminds me of the great a&w days although the mug is too small. bitin!

overall, i enjoyed the experience. the servings are small so that's a little downer but the ambiance and the crew are really nice.

as i am currently trying to eat 'clean', it has been a couple of days since i last ate out, or went out even. anyway, today we went to lucky chinatown. i actually had second thoughts of whether or not to go out and have a ~cheat day~ so to speak, but in the end, i went ahead and ate. with a vast number of restaurants in lcm (lucky chinatown mall), i had a hard time choosing a restaurant, but in the end, we decided to eat at shakey's instead. after all, more or less, as i know, aside from s&r, shakey's is the only resto that serves pizza in lcm.

we ordered the buddy pack (5 pieces chicken + mojos), hearty italian soup, monster spaghetti meatballs (solo), carbonara supreme (solo), baked italian sausage penne (solo), and hi-protein supreme (hand tossed; regular 8-inch). 

we started with the hearty italian soup, which is one of my favourite shakey's dishes. i like how tasty it is, and i even used it as a makeshift dip for the complimentary garlic bread that came with our pasta. 

then came the hi-protein supreme. i ordered hand tossed, because even though shakey's is well-known for its thin crust, i still prefer thick crust pizzas. fun fact: i actually wanted to order a large or party size pizza, but good thing we did not, as two slices in, i was already full. i was also impressed that they did not scrimp on the toppings, because there are times when we order pizza from shakey's, there would only be a sad number of toppings on top. anyway, i like the fact that they were able to separate the white dressing/sauce, because i remember that some time ago when we ate at another branch, when we requested for the dressing to not be slathered all over the pizza, they still went ahead and did. so kudos to our server!

then came the pasta. first to be served was the carbonara. it was pretty bland, and there was only a sorry amount of bacon bits that was included. still, at least it didn't leave an 'umay' feeling. second would be the baked italian sausage penne, which was my favorite (and my mom's too!) out of all the 3 pastas that we ordered. it was really cheesy, although i couldn't identify what part of it was sausage, or if sausages were included at all, but there was an ample amount of meat included. i was expecting more like.. well, literal sausages (cut into tiny pieces), but that was obviously not the case. the sauce was not overwhelming, and it made you want to just go and eat and eat. the last pasta to be served was the monster spaghetti meatballs. true to its name, it was topped with a huge meatball. the meatball was flavorful and had, i think, just the right amount of spices. the sauce for the meatball pasta was almost similar to the baked italian sausage penne.

the last to be served was the buddy pack. our server asked us what part of the chicken we wanted, and we asked for all breast, and they gave just that. another point for their service! i love how obviously just cooked their chicken and mojos were, and i especially love their chicken skin, and couldn't really get enough of it. of course, i did eat the chicken meat, and it was really tender. a bit tasteless, but i find that most chickens are if you don't dip it in gravy. their gravy was great too.

all in all, we had an enjoyable experience. the food was great, the staff were pleasant and always had a smile ready as they served, and the ambience was alright. during our visit, i also got a shakey's supercard as my mom left hers, and anyway, it's about to expire next month. seeing as this month is my birthday, i get to have free pizza! we didn't claim it on the spot though, as we were already bursting at the seams, but we got the whole month to do so - instead of their old 7-day policy, they changed it and implemented a new one wherein you can get your pizza at any day of your birth month! :) on a side note, i love the fact that they inform you via text as to how much points you have inside your shakey's card. don't know if that's a permanent thing or just because i bought my card today, either way, i think it's awesome.

the food was definitely delicious. the price was a bit more pricey. i don't really like the service charge. all in all the ambiance is okay. and their staff is nice.

they still have the same chicken and mojos that i love. and my most favorite combo from the 90s, the bunch of lunch. servings are not as big as they used to but still did not disappoint. service in this particular branch is quite good too. not overly friendly and not too inattentive either. just right.

we went here with my family, it’s nice because every time we go here, we are all craving for pizza, we always order the deal 3, because we have 2 pizza, pasta, chicken and mojos. for a very affordable price. super cool! we will come back here again
