the restaurant was filthy and had a shabby junkie decor.

the food was plain and voluminous.

and the wait staff was hysterical but in an unintentional way. they yelled at customers if they noticed their mask was slightly below their nose. they also we're aggressive and loud to yell at people to get out of the way as they walked back to the kitchen. watching the waitstaff mistreat the customers was by far the most interesting part of the meal.

food is great; service is terrible.

i get we’re all having a tough time with covid but we thought this place would be a good choice based on plenty of 4+ star reviews.

ordered and sat down. in the process of ordering i mentioned we were hungry travelers and that this was our first time. drinks came out and we waited. and waited. and waited.

after what i’d consider enough time (i’m an extremely patient person), i approached the counter saying “i hate to appear impatient but other people who’ve ordered their food after us have received their orders and i was wondering if our food was ready or close to ready” to which i immediately received the reply of “yeah, well we called your name.”

the employee delivering orders seemed to have no problem getting other orders to the table of the customer so i’m not sure what we did in error here.

treating other people with kindness is apparently not their thing.

there are tons of other options on 6th. don’t waste your money here unless you like terrible service and terrible attitudes along with a side of eggs & coffee.

love shakabrah java!. today was my first trip to shakabrah. the traditional breakfast (egg, toast, hash browns and sausage) i ordered was delicious, piping hot, generous in size and cost less than the big "chain" breakfast restaurants. the atmosphere was comfortable: a mix of patrons, old and young, the staff friendly, and the service good. bookcases filled with books line one wall, giving it a kind of literary, yet homey feel. parking on the street was not a problem. from now on shakabrah java is my favorite place for breakfast.

the service was slow and they kept forgetting my wife's tea. 16 tables and 3 waitresses. i waited tables and had 6 table section it's not hard. i"m not sure if the staff is artistic or autistic. not coming back.

shakabrah is the place to be, especially if you're looking for delicious, creative breakfast food. on weekdays they serve food all day and you order at the counter, but on weekends shakabrah opens up its second dining room for brunch. this second room is attended by a friendly group of wait staff. be wary: this place is hugely popular for weekend brunch, and the quality of food comes at the expense of speedy service. definitely not a place for a quick bite to eat. try a skillet!
