top notch food. as a previous employee, i can attest to screpesi's use of fresh, quality ingredients. i now live several hours from the fantastic shop, but whenever i visit family in reading, i stop at screpesi's first.

i had the turkey sub sandwich, and i was pleasantly surprised. it was a well prepared sub sandwich, and i was glad to support a local business. it would have been nice if there was a place to sit and eat as they only serve take out.

i imagined screpesi's would have had a small eating counter but alas it did not.  i told the sandwich maker/cashier i was from out of town and that i had read good things about...

yummy. although screpesi's is known for their cold subs, the meatballs and steaks are delicious. yes, they use sauce and onions and cook it in a pot, but their steak is of the best quality and very yummy! can be messy, but hey that's what napkins are for! their meatballs are homemade and heated up as needed....big deal if they use a microwave, don't we all use microwaves, it won't stop me from ordering one weekly! and employees do wear gloves now, so no worries for any germo phobes out there!!! almost every time i stop in, there's a line out the door so it's obvious how great the food is. trust me...you won't be disappointed!!!

best $8 microwaved sandwich around!. i'm sure their meatballs are delicious when they are first made, but i've gone into this place twice for them and both times my sandwich was made by microwaving the food! seriously?!?! even turkey hill and wawa use better methods. screpesi's steak sandwich tastes like and resembles sloppy joe made from beef scraps (this was at least heated on a stove, where it sat in a large pot all day). their bread is awful. no one wears gloves or washes their hands. to top it all off, they are really expensive! do yourself a favor, go up the street to dynamite subs, or anywhere else. i'm sure screpesi's was good at one point because it's been open forever and seems to have a loyal customer base. the people that run it are very nice, but they cook with skills of a college undergrad living in a door room.

a reading tradition. screpesi's has the best cold subs anywhere in the reading area. just wish their employees would wear gloves or wash their hands after answering the phone or taking someone's money. all things aside they do make good hoagies.
