schweinhaus biergarten serves up a dozen or so high-end beers/ales along with german sausage plates with sauerkraut, german potato salad and three different mustards. they also have a few items on the side, like soft and hard pretzels. my wife and i really liked our beers, and we shared a soft pretzel, which was also excellent. she had the one sausage plate with nurenberger sausage and i had the two sausage bratwurst and weisswurst plate (there are generally five different sausages to choose from). all three sausages were very good. they were not overly spicy and not at all greasy. the sauerkraut was fine, i guess (i admit as to being completely ignorant of how to judge sauerkraut quality); however, the potato salad was so-so at best. it seemed to have onions and vinegar but no bacon- which is almost always present in this style of potato salad. it needed more vinegar, but the real problem was that the potatoes were overcooked. still, we both polished off everything on our plates.
this place only has outdoor seating, so get your sausage and beer now before the fall weather sets in. one suggestion: they ought to offer the option of swapping the potato salad for a good quality hot dog bun, and have some condiments like relish, chopped onions, etc. available.
