the restaurant looks like an ordinary house but once you go inside, the ambience sets up the mood of the restaurant. we loved the good food and appreciate the personalized service of the chef, he even sang for us. parking was enough for the size of the restaurant as well.

sammy's restaurant - a hidden gem just 5 minutes to where i live ✨ owned by chef sammy isidro and his wife dorothy isidro who used to work as singers in jakarta for 17+ years and now decided to settle down in rizal and open a restaurant.

upon entering the restaurant you'll immediately feel the "relaxing, romantic and close to nature vibe" of the place. you'll also be amazed as to how creative they decorated the place as its all diy.

been living in rizal for 26 years and there's still really a lot for me to discover about my hometown. 😅

my family had dinner at sammy's for my mom's advanced birthday celebration. the ambience was nice, it's a small place so be sure to make reservations. food was really good, good price too! sammy and dorothy were all-around great hosts. from parking, to our meals, to surprising my mom with cake, down to their singing -- it was such a good dining experience. would love to try their breakfast meals next.

the food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. we especially enjoyed the special tabrilla chocolate. sammy's was great (even took photos so we could try to replicate at home).
they have five hour prok belly with laing and i was pleased by the quality of the meat, as well as the nicely soft laing, thick slices of ripe mango, and banana french toast which accompanied it. the side of fresh fruit was also generous and perfectly ripe. a very good experience! add this to the best dining view on the place facing the metro manila on a gorgeous fall day, and it adds up to perfection! the food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. we highly recommend it. the sammy’s breakfast was equally as good and my all time favorite na hindi pwede mawala sa lamesa.
oh one more thing na hindi pwede makalimutan sa review.chef sammy is one of the great singing chef of all time with his wife. it was beautiful-peaceful and relaxing and nakakaklig na moment when they sang a beauytiful song infront of us. we thoroughly enjoyed dining . everything was perfect.

it was a plain white house from the outside, but reaching upstairs is a different story. upon entering you would be in awe in how simple yet stylish the place looks. glass windows that invites the sun rays and the outside view of a tree and sky can be seen. the walls are decorated with clocks on a bicycle and on a tower. fancy lights are also installed using pipes as their accents on their walls too. hanging lights are also installed to the ceiling which looks like a plain silver roof. wooden tables are partnered with comfortable seats with neutral colors.

it was simple, crisp and so peaceful, a perfect place for romantic dinner or any special occassion. for now the place fits around 20 customers and would probably expand in the future.

the food and drinks: ( inspired by their favorite food and drinks)

hot bicolano tabrilla chocolate 5/5
thick and creamy best for that cold mornings and rainy weather, but of course best to have with your loved one.

sammy's breakfast 4/5
tapa, longganisa, danggit, eggs and fried rice, an all time filipino favorites which is also chef sam's favorites.

5hr pork belly with laing 5/5
the pork was juicy and tender perfect pair for the laing which i like most.

nasi goreng 4/5
considered as a comfort food of indonesians, that different and unusual indonesian taste is probably a must try, at first i was hesitant to taste bit it taste good.

cubano sandwich 5/5
the spices that were infused in this sandwich is what i like most. the spicy sauce and flavorful meat is a perfect blend.

indonesian konro (braised beef ribs) 4/5
you'll probably know when a dish is done at its best, this dish says it all. meat is so flavorful thus making you eat more rice haha.

martapa 5/5
an indonesian thick pancake composed of condensed milk, peanut and cheese hmmm a lot of going on in there but its light tasting and really good. would probably be best paired with the hot tabrilla chocolate.

mango crave 4/5
crepe with fresh ripe mangoes with vanilla sauce is something anyone would love, i find it a little sweet maybe because of my tastebuds.

banana french toast 4/5
its a banana bread french toasted and it tasted really good and i like that it is not too sweet.

and know what's the best part? well we were serenaded by the couple while we are having our dessert, and its the most romantic scene ever.

just a reminder, be sure to book your date for them to prepare your food fresh and perfect!

so come and visit them today and experience a night of kilig and romance

whenever i tell people where i’m from or where i live, most often than not i get a response of “that’s so far!” or i heard traffic is bad in that area” or “you probably should transfer near the city.” yeah, sure, those things are true, but i always give out a rebuttal in the lines of: “i’m already so used to it (the traffic)”. i have lived in this part of manila/rizal half of my life. also, here in the east side, i’m proud to say that we get the best of both worlds.
