it was my first visit to this restaurant which i heard a dozen times before. and what a visit it was. at the end of the whole deal, i was asking myself, did that just happen?
first of all, it wasn't very crowded but there was some kind of chaos. the waiter had already put some stuff which we hadn't ordered on the table. we had to return most of it.
then we ordered some cold starters. it seemed like the panic in the waiter got to him. he didn't have any idea about what the starters were. they came late. most of them didn't taste all that well except for the hummus.
after we wanted to place the orders for main course. the waiter was nowhere to be found. we called another waiter who was kind enough to help us and covered our order. i had altı ezmeli kebap and my friend had patlıcan kebabı. both of them were tiny. there was barely any meat on the plate. honestly, for that price, you expect more. we both didn't enjoy the main course.
later we asked for some turkish coffee. it took us 5 tries to place an order and 15 mins for the coffee to arrive. and to no surprise, the coffee was full of coffee chunks.
i try to be as objective as possible and those of you who follow me know that i respect waiters and the service however this was an unpleasant experience. if you ask me, i was very surprised that this restaurant got it's name for this kind of quality. this is the problem with establishments in istanbul i guess. first you make a name for yourself then, as you branch out, you loose all that made you who you are; the quality. i'd be really reluctant to step in here again after this experience.
