great time. returned after 2years and the food is still great. sat at the bar, met 2 other couples, shared some desserts and had a great 40th bday. worth the wait.

great place for lunch and try the ribs.

an amazing meal with superb service. there was a very extensive wine list to choose from. we started with a corn bread that is nothing like i have ever had. a kale salad that was exploding with different flavors. our main meal was the enchilada and tri-tip (the picture was taken after my wife and i split the meal in half). the tri-tip was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. and we finished with a oreo ice cream sandwich surrounded by a chocolate espresso sauce.

friendly staff, efficient service, good food, awesome vibe and wine. stunning area, however a bit on the pricey end for us foreigners. we waited for about 45 mins to get a table which was definitely worth the wait.

rutherford grill is a great way to cap off a day of wine tasting. the ribs (babyback) are so good. the meat literally falls off the bone without any veins or grissel to contend with. try the artichoke appetizer. the side dip is a restaurant specialty and will delight your taste buds. to top it off, the grill foregives the corkage fee if your bottle if wine is from the valley. how appropriate us that? go, you will not be disappointed.

great lunch spot. located right next to bv's big facility, right on highway 29 in rutherford, this is a great, central location for lunch. although it's not as inexpensive as grabbing a sandwich from oakville grocery, or something like that, it's a nice place to sit down, relax, and get great service (especially in the heart of the valley). i splurged and had the french dip which was wonderful, and about enough food for 2!! they have a great wine list, as they should in napa. it's a busy, fun place to have lunch or dinner in the valley, without breaking the bank.

recommended by locals. we spent a day of wine touring yesterday and as expected got chatting to our servers about places they recommended for dinner. each person we talked to recommended rutherford grill first — so we thought we better not miss out.
firstly they let you take wine in with you with no corkage fee-i recommend bv as it is right next door and a good idea to enjoy a tasting and make your selection while you wait for your table.
we took all suggestions and ordered the grilled artichoke appetizer, ribs and cornbread. we thought sharing all would be plenty.
i had never had artichoke before — delicious
the ribs absolutely fell off the bone, they had a perfectly balanced smoky flavor and once we started we realized the gluttony would be winning this battle, sharing was no longer an option and we ordered a second plate.
we both love cornbread but this skillet cornbread was like none we had ever had before. it was super moist and complex with both a sweet and subtle spice.
there was absolutely no room left for desert but i've heard it is also very good.

the food was great, but the service left so much to be desired. once we were greeted and had our orders taken we barely saw our server! we finally had to stop a hostess to ask for another diet coke after waiting for about fifteen minutes. even after it took a while to get our bill, and we never even saw a manager at all. i would still come back because the food was fantastic, but i hope next time we have a competent server!!

rutherford grill is a nice change from the ultra-expensive restaurants you see up here, but beware that it's extremely popular and if you're not here at 11:30 sharp, you can expect an hour wait. the outside patio is appealing, but road noise ruins the ambiance.

dont like being lied to. first of let me say we have been customers there since i think 94/95, maybe a little later but a long time ok. every year for our anniversary we go. always enjoyed going, but waited longer and longer to be seated as business picked up. never complained, but always said to them when we left our name at the door, we wished they'd take reservations. but they never did, felt first come was better.
tonight we show up for our annual dinner and we're asked by the uppity little snot at the door "if we have reservation?" we were both shocked to hear this and i ask since when did they take reservations? "oh it's been for at least 9 years and sometimes we allow walk ins, but i'm full and not taking any. so now i am pissed. knowing full well she was lying to me about reservations, i left while my wife stayed and talked to her. i could handle new policy, but don't lie to my face when i know this was not the fact. i'm not some tourist that wouldn't know any better. reservations have always been a sore spot with me there, but since my wife loved the place so much, i did the wait, never once did i feel like i did tonight after being lied to.
well guess what, went to "angele's" instead, since they figured out how to work us in after hearing what went on with rutherford grill. my new go to place. sorry rutherford, but i'm done. i refuse to be lied to. girl should be fired, period!

really enjoyed our service and meal. thought the french dip was the best i've ever had. the meat was very tender and roll outstanding. the horseradish sauce was underwhelming though. definitely will revisit.

loud, boisterous atmosphere. best kale salad i ever had, though you have to like sweet dressings with peanuts. prime rib french dip was out of this world. veggie burger was in my top 5 of all time. if you haven't guessed we loved this place!

best meal on vacation. my wife and i stopped in while we were on vacation, and had a wonderful experience. the rib eye was perfectly seasoned and cooked to temperature. the homemade w sauce was out of this world and the desserts were also magnificent. the service however was stuffy and cold. if we come back to sf we'll make our way to this restaurant.
