there’s really not a shortage of cafes in surry hills and i am always amazed that there are new ones opening every couple of months! i have missed my old hood and the cafes. rustic pearl can be found on the busy street of crown street, right next to ampersand cafe and opposite the clock hotel. the cafe is quite small, the menu has an interesting mediterranean twist and everything on the menu sounded lovely. i couldn’t go past the avocado smoothie – fresh avocado, yogurt, milk, honey and pistachio aud6.50. i had it sans pistachio, the smoothie was delicious, not too sweet and it went down perfectly. f had the  mocha and he really enjoyed it. i couldn’t go past the pan fried chicken breast salad with crispy bacon, chickpeas, char grilled zucchini with balsamic dressing aud18. the original comes with pine nuts, agresto and spiced apricot dressing but you all know about my nut allergy. the salad was indeed healthy and exactly what i needed – how i miss a good simple salad! o had the chicke

yum!. first time at rustic pearl today, and i have to say i was quite impressed.

had a late breakfast - i ordered the special of grilled asparagus with poached egg and crispy bacon bits on toast, while my partner ordered the sucuk. both were delicious, and we shall definitely be returning to sample the rest of the menu!

feature walls in eateries are a delightful distraction and they are ever so popular nowadays. this one at rustic pearl in surry hills is rather interesting. it purports to create that illusory space by introducing the ‘other room’.   the reviews harp on the citruses that cover the water bottles. but the drinks you need to concentrate on are the smoothies. the tahini and honey smoothie was just refreshing and very befitting for a hot saturday morning.             even the avocado shake was good. not too sweet. and pretty too. but we’re not here to talk decor and pretty breakfast smoothies. let’s see what else we should furnish the table with shall we? the western style breakfast looked pretty, doesn’t it? perfect yolk. that says it all the time. but this is the winner. perfectly poached eggs, firm whites to the bite, fragrant yolk running over your soudough toast and chives & rocket.     meeting for brunch means that people have the right to order from the lunch menu. this dish regaled

nonetheless, our overall experience at rustic pearl cafe was an enjoyable experience. both times we were served immediately and attentively by their friendly staff with no waiting time needed. food was great and the price was reasonable (approx. $55ish for both food and drinks for 2 people). drinks are usually the highlight of my visits and this place definitely does their drinks justice! too bad my bf and i don't like coffees because i've heard their coffees there is really good! so for those who finds the food & drinks i've mentioned look appealing to you, definitely do give this place a try as i promise you i wouldn't recommend places or things i don't like to others.

lovely. but beware!. lovely cafe with delicious food and nice service.

we've been there for brekkie and dinner and on all occasions the food has been great.

beware though of the $6 corkage (per person!) and the fact that and $8 dip doesn't come with any bread (that's extra).

would be perfect without the sting in the tail.

rustic pearl café is a new café on crown street that serves a fusion of balkan, mediterranean and french cuisine. the café décor was cosy and warm.  i liked the sophisticated rustic wooden furniture (a thick red blanket is provided in each table) and the beautiful painting on the wall. it was my first time to try mediterranean breakfast.  i ordered the r.p aegean style breakfast which includes soft boiled egg, tomato & cucumber drizzled with w/ olive oil, marinated olives, roasted mixed spicy capsicum and marinated fetta & sourdough toast . my friend ordered the scrambled egg (forgot the full name).  r.p aegean style breakfast aud$16 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false /* style definitions */ table.msonormaltable {mso-style-name:"table normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; m

rustic pearl is a relatively small café with a great rustic charm to it. the menu is mediterranean inspired with some conventional breakfast; this caters to parties wishing to try something new and/or desiring a classic hearty breakfast. the service during my experience was attentive and responsive; the waitress and kitchen kindly catered to my request of having the gözleme delivered to the table shortly after the omelette and eggs royale. i’d happily recommend trying this place if you’re looking to add a breakfast/brunch location to your calendar.

we loved the coffee, the lemonade with fresh fruit, the veal ragu was awesome (though maybe not for you if you prefer al dente) and the australian king prawn salad (the heads were nice for presentation, but did interfere a bit with eatability).
