brunch was delightful. the roycroft atmosphere, pleasant service, lovely live classical music... oh and the food! there were many downright delicious foods. favorites for us were the madetoorder omelets - no mushrooms but very fresh ingredients and fluffy eggs - yum! they went well with the included bloody mary that was mildly spicy. i loved the smoked salmon with capers i could load on myself. the desserts were surprisingly delicious for a buffet - lemon bars, chocolate cups, spice cake, and a fantastic pecan cranberry pie made for a wonderful end to a 2.5 hour treat - despite our leisurely meal and the relative full house, we were never rushed. all for the price of many less tasty meals in less beautiful surroundings. wonderful.

good but expensive. had a lunch meeting here - it was supposed to be from 11:30 - 2:30 but about 1:00 they came and told us they needed our table at 2:00 and we needed to order if we wanted to eat. so we did. i had the turkey panini sandwich on the lunch menu. it was good but not $11.00 worth good. i asked the waiter if i could substitute the homemade chips for the fries and he didn't know, he didn't think so. (what?) the restaurant is gorgeous but wow the prices! we ate on the covered porch and the guy that lives across the street decided to mow his grass right at lunch time. how rude! it was loud & kicked up a lot of dust. it was a nice place for a meeting even if they kicked us out a little early, but i won't be going back unless we have another meeting there

i am so disappointed. i've wanted to go to the roycroft for dinner forever and finally chose to go to celebrate my fourth anniversary with my boyfriend. it was honestly the worst meal i've ever had out and so overpriced! the mashed potatoes even tasted like instant. our bill was $130 for two entrees and an appetizer and we left the food there it was so bad. we also waited over an hour for our food. so upset this was where we spent our celebration. i really don't recommend eating here.

food doesn't live up to the atmosphere. after a recent visit to the roycroft, i have to re-write a previous review. the food and drinks have gone downhill. this is not good, especially because they were simply mediocre before. at a place with the beauty and atmosphere of the roycroft, you want to expect more. but if you do you'll be disappointed.
drinks at the bar are made with mixes by inexperienced bartenders. this is not what i expect for the price. food tasted pre-prepared. seafood bisque tasted like it was sitting on the stove-top all day (which it probably was) and seafood was overdone.
the service is good. the atmosphere is awesome. but, especially when you factor in the price, the food is a miss. that said, i think everyone should go here once to admire the beauty of the building. maybe go to the bar on a friday night and get a glass of wine or beer.

complete let down. horrible service! went to enjoy music & food & drinks & ended up with warm beer, cold soup, burnt pretzel bites that stunk like burnt egg & waited over an hour & 15 min. to get a soup!! beers were constantly empty with no one in site & the prices were a total rip off for the quality & complete lack of service. on a friday night & with the amt. of $ they overcharge on everything, there should be more than 1 server & the food quality should be much higher. never eating here again.

consistently enjoyable sunday brunch. since the inn was restored, my family, friends and i have enjoyed many sunday brunches together, and it's the combination of atmosphere and menu that keeps us coming back. if you need to drop someone off, try the side lot that is reserved for inn room guests, then park across the street in the area closer to the old town hall, which was part of the old roycroft campus; by the time you read this review, the lot may no longer be available, but try to park across south grove in any case.
i can't comment on the weekday menus, just the sunday brunch. favorites include prime rib, roast turkey and ham, flank steak (these selections change weekly) and the omelet station. recently, their scrambled eggs have been getting some attention with additions such as cheddar and ham and we've not been getting the custom omelets. bbq chicken, a pork item, mash potatoes (we usually skip the potatoes because they're available anywhere and are filling), two different types of salads with many healthy ingredients in each, smoked salmon, a thick soup such as minestrone, various pickled vegetables, many different types of desserts, the standard pork sausage and bacon for the younger crowd, as well as a special item that is created near the salads; in recent weeks we've tried tacos and cherries jubilee (it can be just about anything). the seating is not cramped, the conversation is lively and you'll have enough privacy to enjoy your space. i've been to a number of local restaurants where paying around $100 for 3 people made me feel like i had just spent a lot of money; i don't feel that way here, and again i think the overall experience; the unique combination of tradition, people-friendliness and high quality of food. for people going to the inn for the first time as meal guests, i think the brunch is the best way to be introduced. i look forward to any new comments about the weekday menu. thanks!

they are not vegan friendly contrary to their description. i ate at the brunch and the only items that were vegan friendly were fruit and crackers. i also met a client for lunch there and when i asked the server to modify a veggie pizza by removing the cheese she told me they were very busy and were unable to accomodate special requests. she also failed to point out another sandwich (veggie panini with hummus) that might have worked for me. i sat with my water for the meal. i will not be going back.

they lost us. for years we have visited the roycroft for meals, to stay at the inn, and to shop. over the past year, the menu and food have gone downhill, substantially, to the point that we will no longer be going for dinner.

by the time we finished dinner last night, we were actually laughing because the food was so bad that it was comical. i sent back my steak salad and the shrimp and crab bisque (which i usually am crazy over) seemed old and the shrimp were actually brown. my husband had a chicken dish that came with some cut-up fruit and nuts, more thrown on the plate than prepared, and a scoop or rice, like we were at the high school cafeteria. he ordered hot tea and the water was barely warm. i opted for dessert, as i had to send my entree back, and an apple tartlet that i had previously eaten there and found to be wonderful, was chewy, doughy, and tasteless. my husband ordered the chocolate mint fudge dessert and was served a mystery item that had a texture like chip board. i don't know what's happening here, but i am so sad about it. as for service, from the minute we sat down our waitress treated us as if we had offended her in some way. she neglected our table for a large party and we were kept waiting time and time again. i had previously recommended this restaurant all the time, but i won't be able to do that anymore.

my husband and i were so excited to try the roycroft and we were so disappointed. the bread they brought before dinner was tasteless. the steaks were bland, demi-glaze was too sweet and the potatoes were boring. too bad. won't be returning

good and not so good. we loved breakfast. the server was quite attentive and sweet, and it's hard to mess up breakfast. the house-made bread was a plus. lunch was a different story. the sandwiches ordered were reportedly ok, but a friend and i got one of the specials, the steak salad. the steak was tough and the salad could have been fresher. our young server was not so attentive and seemed put upon when asked to refill the iced tea. we love the inn and will have breakfast there again but will go elsewhere for other meals.
