stopped in for a quick sandwich to hold me over until dinner after hearing good things from people. had the teri beef sandwich. good value for the price and very tasty. i will go back when i have more chance to explore the menu. i spent some time in the islands and miss the food. it’s worth stopping in and trying for sure.

mothra says...."you got your food on hawaiian time.". so hobo comes into my office and says; “hey mothra, you need to come over and have some lunch. as a chef, i cook really really good food. drop by soon.”

so on a recent friday, k and i after running some morning errands, dropp into roxy’s hawaiian on scholl’s ferry rd. at about 1210pm this is not a large restaurant. it has tables and booths seating about 25 persons. yet, as we walked in a large amount of the diners seated were apparently waiting for their food to go. wow. we moved forward in line rapidly and gave our order to the guys near the kitchen. in no time, we sat and waited for our entrees to be prepared to go. .... and waited, and waited, and waited. one by one, diners were called to take their entrees to go, and a few dined in as well. i had no idea that our two entrees for lunch on a recent friday would take 37 minutes to prepare. whew!

so k, always listening, overheard the restaurant staff mention to a diner on her way out that. “no, i am sorry but we do not take phone calls ahead for ‘to go pickups’.” so there we sat, waiting, waiting, me?; counting the tiny grains of salt spilled on the red tabletop.
let’s talk lunch! after arriving at the casa de mothra, k opened up her pineapple chicken with rice and macaroni salad and i, my kahlua pork also with white rice and macaroni salad. each entrée contained a large amount of the chosen meat and rice. k’s chicken pineapple was fried pieces of chicken in a lovely pineapple sauce. my shredded kahlua pork a large amount of really delicious pork in their own secret sauce and was very flavorful. in addition, the macaroni salad was creamy and very good. i do believe that many of these entrees on the menu are being cooked to order, and i applaud that. but to wait 40 minutes with many persons having a one hour lunch period at work, just will not float.

so, how do i review this restaurant? the team behind the cash register and kitchen were helpful with the menu, all pleasant with good customer service. the two entrees were really tasty and, at about $8.00 each, a good value for the quality and quantity..... but, c’mon, almost 40 minutes for our lunchtime dishes to go? that is good not a good recipe. the time factor is an issue and has to be managed.. mothra says.....3.25 of 5.0
