06/03/17 -- red's kitchen + tavern in peabody is located inches from the busy rte 1 where everything is always on the wrong side. this is a big place, but they have plenty of parking.

this is the place for breakfast in peabody! if there's a better place, i'm sorry i missed it. early in the week, and then again later this place was absolutely spotless. i mean clean. the waitresses were timely and very attentive, at least at the horseshoe bars where my coworker and i were sitting. from that vantage point you can watch the cooks grill up your breakfast, and quickly. the salsa i requested with my omelette was crammed with fresh cilantro, and i love that stuff. this place makes the other breakfast places dull and bland in comparison.

food is great and good value. . portions were large and food tasted great ! the prices were so low......less than $20 for both meals...

the only negative thing was that the kitchen areas were filthy and the cooks were using really dirty rags to wipe down the prep surfaces. one of the dirtiest food prep areas i've ever seen. too bad because i would like to go back sometime again but won't till the place gets cleaned up. whomever is supervising the kitchen areas needs to be fired and replaced by someone who is safeserv certified.........

great breakfast spot. had breakfast here twice on a recent east coast trip. typical “greek” restaurant. large dining area, 2 horseshoe counters and a small bar area (tavern?). large menu, reasonably priced, opens super early for the morning commuters. if you’re passing through the area and looking for good american food it’s worth the stop. open early morning ‘til late evening.

i have had breakfast and dinner here. the breakfast was pretty good, although a little pricey for "diner style." i agree with the other reviewer that the home fries leave a bit to be desired. they are huge chunks of potato. my eggs, pancakes and toast (combination of the three times i've had breakfast here) were all great. dinner was reasonably priced. i had sushi grade tuna covered in sesame seeds that was delicious.

having been to red’s in salem on many lazy sunday mornings, we were excited to check out their latest incarnation in peabody (on rt. 1). it’s an enormous space but quite welcoming, with diner-style counters up front and family-style tables elsewhere, plus a nice-looking bar.

breakfast was o.k.. it is pretty hard to screw up breakfast. it was o.k. the atmosphere was nice with the diner look in front. the home fries were greasy and the western omelet wasn't very good. it was mostly onions. the coffee was good and the service was fine. i will eat there again as it is as good as any other place in the area. i would love to have replaced the home fries with grits or hashbrown potatoes, but i am southern and like things that aren't neccessarily popular in this part of the country. if i have an opportunity, i will try dinner there. as i mentioned before, the atmospere is nice. i believet that since the rating is in the "60s", there must be a chef problem.
