when i lived in syracuse, sundays meant a walk down the street to the neighborhood bakery for my weekly donut. i’d throw it on a plate and sit on the porch sipping coffee and savoring the buttercream off the top of my headlight. my weekly guilty pleasure. however when i moved to d.c., nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming brunch scene this city has to offer. out with donuts and coffee, in with eggs benedict and mimosas! from day 1, scott planned our weekend plans around sunday brunch, and it quickly became one of my favorite d.c. rituals. we frequent many of the restaurants in old town simply because we can walk, but lately we’ve expanded our repertoire to d.c. proper. recently, we had the chance to head back to one of our favorite spots in penn quarter, redline gastrolounge. we last wrote about redline in february after an amazing dinner, and have been back several times since for drinks and dinner with friends. lucky for us, redline is now offering brunch buffet – and a

redline succeeds for 2 reasons, in particular: the number and location of its tvs. you can see virtually every game from any spot in the bar.

terrible. i have had two terrible experiences with this restaurant. i reserved a booth last year for a friends birthday party and after signing a contract and turning over my credit card they lost my paperwork and i was left embarrassed with a group of ten people and no place to sit. no arraignments were made to rectify the problem and our nice birthday dinner was spent in a dim sum restaurant in china town. this year, the same friend wanted to go again and after making the reservation we went back. we were harassed by the front door security for bringing birthday presents to the restaurant, no unopened gift wrapped bottles of wine or alcohol. they claimed they would not be responsible for the gifts and forced us to store them elsewhere. the food was decent and the concept of beer taps at the table was great, but the staff was horrible. the waitress and manager got into a verbal altercation which occurred on the restaurant floor at which time our sever was sent home. we knew of all the drama because it occurred mere feet from our table. our tab was closed before we were done and we were not offered a second server. i was then double charged on my credit card and two months later, still can not get answers from the restaurant. do not go to this bar, the service is terrible and the sooner we can close it the sooner we can get a restaurant the cares about staying open.

redline is a no good racist restaurant.  it should be shut down.  don't go there.  what a shame, to come from india, be accepted in this country, make millions of dollars, then create a racist caste system restaurant!!

food was good but, the chef is more worried about flirting with the bartenders and waitresses more than anything else.

we didn’t want to eat too heavily because we were still going out later, but we demolished those nachos and wings. i consider myself a nachos connoisseur if you will, and these had the perfect chip to topping ratio, with guacamole included, which isn’t not a 100% guarantee in this town. for bar food, this gastrolounge serves up good eats and proper plating for the palette.

while the grilled lamb lollipops are succulent in a cranberry port wine reduction with spiced puff pastry, the gator three ways is an exciting menu item that even chubbs peterson would enjoy.

head to the redline in penn quarter (a short walk away) after the concert. simply belly up to the bar, tell the bartender who performed at jazz in the garden, and enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne or draft beer. let the weekend begin!

'tis the season for games, games, and more games. my friends and i decided to meet up for dinner and drinks last week, and what better place to watch some march madness games than at the new redline gastrolounge right across from the verizon center. my friends alicia and matthew got there early and we were able to secure a table after waiting a bit at the bar. sadly, we did not get one of the coveted booths with table top beer taps. we were staring at the nearby tables in jealousy, as the idea of having the ability to pour as much beer as you wanted without having to wait for a server was very appealing, but also dangerous. we couldn't tell if you had the option of switching the taps as we would have preferred dogfish over bud light, but it was definitely a cool idea. with our drafts glasses in hand, we ordered our food and took took in the sensory overload of games and tvs all around us. i decided to get the pita tuna sandwich, with grilled ahi tuna, toasted sesame seeds, avocado, and

redline doesn't look like much from the outside - probably because the bar is actually upstairs. but once you get upstairs it looks like a great setup. long bar on one end (smaller bar at the other) and then a pretty large dining area. huge tvs, and a big scoreboard

redline dc. we ate there yesterday. it looked like they had just opened they were training the staff. the couches were comfortable and the beer was hood. the food however, was very oily and salty , simply no better than bar food. we ordered the redline salad which was very oily. we ordered the roast chicken which was 22$. it claimed that it was half chicken but was only a quarter and loaded with oil and spice even though i told the waiter that i don't want anything added to the chicken. my son did not touch the chicken and the waiter took the plate and did not even bother to give a partial refund. in summary, i will not go there for food. it's good for bunch of guys to go watch a game a drink beer.
