red top hot dogs

great local find. tasty and personable, a perfect example of western new york hospitality and grace. yes, it's dogs and burgers and fries and shakes, but everything is delicious and reasonably priced. the staff is warm and welcoming, their service above and beyond. my two daughters and i couldn't be more glad that we stopped in today, we will be back, without question.

these people know how to grill a dawg!!. properly grilled and great, onions and toppings need a little help though

great hot dogs and shakes!

as i said in our review of lockport’s reid’s, our goal this summer is to finally cross several hot dog stands off our restaurant wishlist. last weekend alli and i decided to drive down to hamburg to finally check out red top, another hot dog stand that we’ve heard several people rave about. as we visit more of these neighborhood hot dog stands, alli and i are starting to doubt how special a hot dog stand can really be. we aren’t visiting these restaurant with years of childhood memories or any nostalgia; when we visit a restaurant like red top or reid’s, we are really just experiencing the atmosphere and food with a clean slate. the restaurant is 67 years old and there haven’t been a lot of updates. there is no dining room, just a covered outdoor dining area with a couple picnic tables and their cash register definitely shows some age. they only take cash and their menu is hand written on a dry erase board and nothing on the menu costs more then $5.15.

local tradition. as a newbie to the area i had to stop and try this hot dog stand. i could not imagine how onion rings with cheese sauce would be, as to me it was out of the ordinary. out of the ordinary is right! it makes you want to schedule your next visit for more. italian sausage is great also. i noticed they are open for the season and i am looking forward to making this stop a regular one. be sure to have cash or visit the nearby gas station atm.

best hot dog and fries in the country!!! awesome place!! great friendly staff, fresh food and i love the fact they have stayed true to their roots.

good dogs, fries and shakes. i love this place. one of my summer favorites. the potato chip cut fries are awesome.

this place never disappoints. everything is cooked to order and the workers are so friendly. only thing is the limited parking and depending on how busy it is, the seating can be limited also.

old-school done right. red top is a the best example of a old-school road-side stand on the east coast. hot dogs cooked on a real charcoal grill, had-made milk shakes, good burgers and fries that make you smile. i have been driving to red top since i was six. now i live in columbus but everytime i am back in hamburg i stop in. this is a family run business and it shows. they care, the food is great and you will enjoy yourself. go!

the best dawg in town!!. red top has had and still has the best hot dawg in town!!! to kook properly you must have charcoal and good coal sets the flavor...if you want to kook on gas, well just stay on the porch cause i will not eat there....take the time and extra effort and put flavor into you product and they will come. would like to have chopped jalepenos on my dawg..the tall fella knows how to put bark on a dawg!

the way it should be. this is my kind of hot dog place. little changed in the 30+ years i have been going here (that means since i was a little baby if anyone cares). it is simple, yummy and consistent. go here for the memories even if it is your first time. it just like stepping back to another, simpler era.
