radius restaurant

$14.00 for two scallops!. had dinner last night at radius. my husband ordered the sea scallops appetizer for $14.00. when it arrived there were only two scallops on the plate! you've got to be kidding! it was a joke! i ordered the salmon. the portion was large but it was a bit on the dry side. we did like the atmosphere there.

it's fresh and that matters to me.. i've had the treat of eating at radius on a few occasions and thought about reading up on some reviews. i've had nothing but perfectly cooked food every time i've dined.. it's sad to see so many people have had bad experiences so i thought i'd write a good one.

as someone who doesn't dine out often, usually because it's hard to give money away for something i could cook at home for a fraction of the cost but sometimes it's nice to not be the cook. i can see why it's more pricey, the location, the clientele, the brand, the building itself is gorgeous and the walls are lined with hamilton artwork. personally, not meaning to offend, but going into cheaper places, i sometimes lose my appetite by just viewing the unpleasantness of other customers. at radius, they bring the ambiance.

some of my favourite things at radius are the flourless brownie which comes with fresh fruit, whipped cream and berry coulis (very satisfying to the palette). the charcuterie board offers local cured meats, a much more upscale version of my guilty pleasure "pepperettes" always puts me in a good place. and to add, those buttery vegetables that come with entrees are such a treat for me, perfect bite and tenderness everytime. i don't use butter at home so this i don't mind at all when i eat out.

i have to also comment on the menu and wording itself. sometimes the food is not the same as what the menu states. the salmon for example (not sure if it's still on the menu) said cedar planked but i don't think it was, though, it was the most moist salmon i've had in my life. i continue to go back because they consistently keep cooking everything the way i like it. to each their own :).

not again. attended last night, may 27. first time there and best described as mediocre casual dining at fine dining prices. i found this restaraunt strangely schizophrenic. the decore was nice, but presented a more casual/roadhouse atmosphere which did not mesh well with the high fine dining prices. unreasonably high prices for unsensational food. pork chops ordered could barely be cut with a knife, my two guests had to use their hands. soda ordered was flat. the other dishes were fine, but again attention was drawn to the cost of the limited sized portions. the menu was overall disappointing with limited selection, especially if you are not a sea food lover.it was explained that they had just finalized their menu and some items listed on the website menu (which seemed enticing) were no longer available. in fact no one in my party of five ordered appetizers as nothing stood out. as well with desert, only one person ordered. in closing i would expect much more for the prices being charged. a disappointment.

good time. 1/2 price wine night, new items on the menu, food is fantastic, 10 out of 10

the food at radius cafe is very poor. the atmosphere is lovely. hey would do well to hire a good chef before it is too late.

i went here for a celebration lunch around 2pm, it was quiet and it's a gorgeous place i've wanted to try for about 3 years. my family was not impressed at the wait we had for a seat considering there was 3-4 servers attending people but no problem hostess, a few servers came to reassure the hostess was coming but still no sign after about 10 minutes. we seated ourselves and our server a gentlemen came to the rescue with menus and drink orders. hostess stopped by to apologize she had "something else to attend to" but smelt of smoke and didn't really seem sincere, but that's beside the fact.

the server we had, i didn't catch his name but he was without hair and had a beard, was a strapping young lad that was by far one of the best servers i've had. tailoring to our needs and making connections with his customers at every point.

food was amazing, aside from the fries which we're way over cooked and looked like they were trying to clear the fryer out. we didn't complained but mentioned to the server they weren't the best and gave us a gratitude for them, which was very greatly appreciated. not necessarily needed because the food was great aside from the fries like i said.

i got the "kfc" which was tiny for the price you pay but it was the best tasting cauliflower wings i've had to this day. also had the falafel sandwich which was more of a chickpea burger if anything, but it was actually quite bland... it was missing the kick you get from a falafel when they mix it with pickled beets. unfortunately this sandwich didn't have that kick you'd hope for. it was missing flavour but the texture was very appetizing. aside from the missing flavour it was paired nicely with roasted red peppers so it did have a good almost smokey taste to it.

in conclusion, i would recommend and would return but i'd hope to see a change in hostess and urgency to guest from them as well as a few more "vegan" or "vegetarian" options. something that's not 13$ for 3 pieces of cauliflower.

food was delicious and excellent value! nice ambiance too with live music even on a sunday morning - guitarist singing simon & garfunkel! we had eggs benedict with smoked salmon, spanish frittata with delicious salted pork and fried chicken with waffles. all well-made and sumptious portions.

we were a party of 4 and when we got there it was very busy so we sat at the bar until a table became available. we waited about 20 minutes and were seated in the dining room near the window. our server was tentative and quick with taking our order and bringing out our food. i highly recommend their charcuterie board as it had a nice variety and the portion size was good for the 4 of us. the decor was classy and modern - i think they had undergone renos not too long ago. atmosphere was lively and the restaurant was full for a sat night.

tried brunch today i . below is another time. sometimes they hit sometimes they miss. i loved the food-panacotta french toast is amazing! loved it . could be served with more maple syrup. fried potaos - total hit. great flavour and i love the crunch. the radius breakfast was good but had to be eaten without pepper. clam chowder- fantastic .i think this is one of the best bowls of this stuff i have eaten. it would be better with a few more pieces of bread. tea - ordered tea with milk. when tea arrived we waited and waited and waited.some.more for milk. didn't come
we asked again and it still didn't come
when it came the tea was stone cold . pepper and salt are not on tables and again waited and waited for them... pepper which is good on eggs and clam chowder never came. salt and pepper should be on the table. i get that the chef spices it to his liking but some of us need a little more at times. why waste the servers time in retrieving these things when they should be on the table and the server can be getting my milk. previous- i went here last night with my husband and daughter. it took a lot of convincing with my husband to give this place a second try. the first time was just after it had opened. we had gone with a group of 12 people all of which did not like it. after 2 years of people telling me it was a good place to eat i am glad i finally returned.
atmosphere- this place is a lovely space. modern and spacious with a lot of natural light from windows in the front. there are 4 separate areas and all look comfortable to be in. i especially liked the soft jazz  music they played during the meal. i hate when music drowns out or makes people anxious with a fst beat. you need relaxing music to enjoy a dinner. 
food- they have a $35 around the world tour going on right now on tuesday nights.each tuesdaythey feature a different cuisine,  yesterday was costa rica. my choices were 1) a white fish salsa with avocado  with nauchos- lovely and light with a lot of cilantro ( my favourite) 2) chicken empanada ( on the dry side with too many potatoes ) with rice and beans ( i have never tasted such great rice and beans. whatever spices that the chef added was perfect) and a coleslaw ( far too vinegary for me) 3) dulce de letce cake with sweet milk ( my daughter liked it but i thought it was dry and not very sweet. almost plain cake with some milk poured on it. ) my family was a lot luckier with their choices off the menu: 4) carrot ginger soup- lovely with a wonderful consistency and aroma 5) arctic char- wow! 2 large pieces of grilled fish perfectly done on top of mixed vegetables. this was scrumptious. 6) hamburger- very nice with a sweet bread type bun with french fries lightly spices with salt and parsley- good. 7) flourless chocolate cake was fan -tast- ic!  it came with a strawberry sorbet that blended wonderfully with it and blueberry pearls . i would come back for just that. yum. 
service- our waitress was lovely, friendly and very efficient. she was there at all the right moments. 
impression-i loved the place. i did not like the choices generally on the world tour menu that i had but i would be open to trying another cuisine or order something off the menu next time . i would be happy just to go for flourless chocolate cake and tea in that lovely environment.

the wait time at this restaurant once you are already been seated is insane. it took half an hour for someone to just take our order despite that the place was half empty. overall the food is ok. i had a bacon cheeseburger which was good but salty. the eggs benedict are good, not great. the potatoes that come as a side are the best potatoes i've had. ceasers are wonderful!

atmosphere was quite nice ans the food was also good. however the quality and quantity of food is not worth the price. i'd say it's very over priced for what you get.

delish... if only the prices allowed us to make this a weekly spot! husband wasn't thrilled with menu variety but i thought it was just right. he ordered the brisket burger which was more than he could eat but amazing, he said. i had the daily pasta dish. portion was generous and the ingredients were fresh. their caesar salad was everything a caesar salad should be: fresh and lemony with homemade croutons, thick gratings of parm, and lots of bacon. place was buzzing (loud!) on a friday night but the vibe was great (dj included) and we enjoyed our attentive waiter.

my friends and i used to love this place. then they became well-known and started changing their recipes. the muscles used to be amazing. they made them in a garlic butter sauce with white wine, it was on point and cooked to perfection. i had them again just last week and the flavour was mediocre at best. there was too much mine and was much too acidic. i was really disappointed. the prices have gone up and quality of food has gone down. they used to have a dessert tray with featured desserts every night, now it's just a standard menu. it's sad how much the quality has gone down since their recent popularity. it's not only the food too, the drink prices have gone up significantly. it's still a good place for a big group to have dinner, the atmosphere is still 10/10.
it's no longer going to be one of mine or my friends regular spots though. i wish this restaurant would go back to the way it was, my friends and i definitely miss the original radius menus and recipes.

blah. this whole restaurant is like what some small town person imagines a cool restaurant is like. there's a dj playing very loud, bad dance music that makes it hard to hear, the dishes are overpriced and nothing special, the service is mediocre at best, and there's a big screen tv showing sports.
