the food was flavorless and undecooked. not enough options in the area but avoid going there. the food was not at all palatable in any way. the ambiance is not bad but the attitude of the service staff was unacceptable. on a funny note the name is perfect for the restaurant raaz(secret), because they want to keep it that way, how bad it is.

mutton biryani is amazing - it's spicy, mutton is not chewy and biryani rice is mixed with some gravy which is good. buffet lacks variety considering the options available on indian street nearby.

the restaurant has a cozy feel to it, which i would recommend for dinner. they have a great selection of food. everything we had was lovely - the south indian food was the best! i would go back again and again

we ordered matar paneer curry, baigan bharta and a basket of assorted bread. opting for assorted break basket was a good choice as it had enough for 3-4 people. it had plain naan, garlic naan, parathas and kulchas. matar paneer curry and baigan bharta were a bit bland i felt. we ended up our meal with some mango lassi which i would surely recommend. the place had a decent ambiance and i absolutely loved the service.

i went for dinner over here, they have pretty much good indian food (compared to other indian restaurants in the vicinity). the ambience is good, the music was okay. you could hear other people talking beside you so that's one thing.

raaz is a convenient place located right outside the newport path station in jersey city.

raaz has two types of services: a-la-carte and lunch buffet

my personal recommendation would be to go for the a-la-carte☆ lunch buffet in my 3 visits has been a bit cold, bland and okayish.

they also serve indo-chinese which very few places do in the area, so that is a nice added bonus. however, dont for get to mention to them to make it a bit spicy else it tastes pretty sweet with lot of tomato ketchup probably in the gravy.

overall, it is a decent no frills place which serves good indian food and has variety of options.

if you are looking for authentic indian food in newport then raaz is a great choice. we stopped over for drinks and finger food and loved absolutely everything we ordered, both in the vegetarian as well as the non-vegetarian sections. they have happy hours and we found good options in both food and liquor . clean, happy to help, polite staff and its location are plus points.

we visited this place on my husband's birthday last week. i have to say it was the worst experience we had.
the soup seemed like boiled water without salt and some hard frozen corn.
the starter was extremely spicy and tasteless
the noodles were tasteless and not even visually appetizing
the manchurian balls were hard and tasteless

the entire evening was spoilt and we went back home hungry

this place probably serves the best indian fare in newport. the food is not cheap but the drinks are. been here an umpteen number of times with my friends and have never been disappointed with the food they serve. the paneer kabab is melt-in-the-mouth and the noodles, though a bit oily to my liking, is tasty. i have never tried out their desserts but i think their starters always make me gorge on them. the servers are attentive and they do their best to serve you as fast as possible. i always order an extra mango chutney just because of the amazing sweet and spicy taste.

we're in town for a ny city sightseeing trip and this restaurant was walking distance from our hotel so we just walked in.
there happened to be a buffet for lunch. there was enough variety and the food tasted good too. the servers could try to smile sometimes though.

jersey has a lot of indian restaurants. missing indian food in pardes? then don't try this place. they offer buffet but i didn't find the spread too great. it has indian and chinese food. even the chats were not great.

overall i didn't find the place good. i was quiet disappointed.

but you see a lot of indian faces in the restaurant. a thumbs down for the restaurant!!!

it's been a while that i wanted to eat in an indian restaurant in jersey city, keeping a list of places in my notes gathered during conversations with my coworkers. i ended up at raaz on a saturday for lunch, going with one of my colleagues who was visiting from india. he went to this place few times and liked it, even if some of the taste was a bit americanized.

during my us visits back in 2008 to 2010, i used to stay at jersey city and was a frequent visitor at this place. i must have been here 10-15 times easily.
this place serves some great north indian and mughlai food, a ray of hope for all indians if they ever miss indian food.i liked the curries, rice here a lot, especially dhaba murg.
order in nice chicken curry, along with a jack daniels and feel happy :-)
