being sydney's best restaurant, the family was overly excited to dine here and with its glowing reputation in mind we went in with high expectations. patty reasons that she has an affiliation with peter gilmore because he occasionally comes into tastebuds for a coffee and fritters and in return she insists on visiting quay to keep it even. it doesn't really match up ... but whatever helps her sleep at night. opera house        we arrived via the lift entrance but you can also enter from the main entrance

in conjunction with the gradual revamp of the rocks, quay will be closing for renovations from 1st apr 2018 for three months and we see the departure of their signature snow egg (whyyy! 😭). fortunately, there was a last-minute table availability two days prior and i quickly snapped up the booking in spite of a late dinner time.

the day arrived and the constant rain couldn't drown out my excitement for (finally!) visiting quay.

wow! my birthday dinner. the most amazing dining experience. i think this overtook as my new favourite restaurant in sydney. the snow egg was the absolute highlight. but all the other dishes were amazing! the snow egg is exactly what you think is going to taste like, but better!! can’t wait to go back.

i had a really good time at quay. i thought the food was very good (except for the partridge) and the meal flowed very well. the service was very friendly and even weathered my silly questions like “sooo….how do you know this squid is hand caught?”. barry and the team enjoyed our company also and at the end of our meal, presented us with some quay heirloom seeds for us to plant in our gardens (something they don’t usually do for lunch times) and of course, as previously mentioned, bothered to pass on our cognac suggestions to the chef.

i chose the congee as my first course because i was curious to see how it was done. i've had congee since i was a baby (literally, it is baby food for us asians) but obviously no where near as refined as peter gilmore's (sorry grandma). first thing i notice is the enticing aroma luring me in.

truely amazing restaurant with stunning views and excellent food. we sat on the top deck with the opera house in front and the harbour bridge behind us. the food was very distinct and exquisite, we had the four course menu which took about two hours to serve. the vibe was relaxed and the restaurant ambiance was contemporary and classy. the service was top notch as expected with very friendly staff, the waiters gave a description with each dish served. the total bill at the end was worth the experience and quality of the food. highly recommend the snow egg dessert for those with a sweet tooth!

the food was good - pleased to be able to get a table on short notice. the atmosphere at aria was better but i still enjoyed my meal. only let down was that the didn't have the famous egg available even though it was on the menu.

smoke your appetite with the fusion of delicate flavours to start your palette including the raw smoked blackmore wagyu. cream with the juicy and flavvoursome congee of northern australian mud crab to follow. refresh your taste buds on raw beetroot sprinkled with cultured liquid nitrogen cream.

one of the most well-known fine dining restaurants in sydney. there's no doubt you're in for an elegant and classy evening overlooking the magical landscape of the harbour and sydney opera house. despite it being fine dining, the portion sizes were quite substantial. however, i found most of their dishes resonated with a smoky flavour throughout. nonetheless, the snow egg dessert seriously lives up to the hype! it is absolutely divine!

my friend had brought me and another friend here for our birthday and wow.. what an experience. we went with the six course set meal and every dish was so delicate and full of flavour. my friend had booked 6 months ahead and we were able to sit right in front of the window which was facing out to the harbour bridge and opera house, the view really enhances the experience. the service was amazing, everyone was super friendly and professional. one of the best fine dining experiences and would definitely come back.
