i was pleased to see a patio ready for pouring at pure spirits oyster house . after locking up my bike i hopped into the dining room which offered an industrial vibe featuring metal bar stools and dining chairs. i was joined at the table by my good friend from corby’s  wine expert  penelope irving . we hadn’t seen each other since before i left for my trip to south africa last fall so had a lot of catching up to do! we spent the next two hours chatting about toronto’s food scene, blog life, our favourite wines and exciting upcoming travel plans. we enjoyed a light lunch featuring shrimp, chop salad and savoury spiced squash cannelloni. i peddled away inspired by the promise of patio season. rush into me summer i’m ready for you! the feast: grilled jumbo black ti

repeat customer. oysters were on point as was the papardelle and mussels. very sad to say the linguine vongolge was so salty we had to send it back. and same for the chicken rigatoni. very salty and pasta was undercooked. not sure what was happening in the kitchen. but at least the manager acknowledged and adjusted the final bill.

i like their dessert creme brulee also tried signatured dish seafood pasta just need a lil bit more on sauce portioning because it gets dry easily and the pasta sticks together. overall experience is pretty much decent. thanks! 😊

amazing seafood !

great ambiance. amazing seafood. mussels and scallops were delicious. the service was excellent. our server was tina m. definitely recommend this gem!

amazing oysters! i highly recommend going for $1 oysters on tuesday. it comes with yummy bread too. wine selection is nice too.

we were in the distillery district and decided to grab a bite. we walked around, read menus and settled on this place. we ordered cocktails which were great; very inventive list. we split the falafel wrap which was delicious and more than enough for the two of us. service was pleasant and attentive throughout the meal. recommend if you are in the area.

i have eaten here on a number of occasions.   oysters generally pretty good and reasonable selection (fanny bays can be a bit unpredictable but east coast usually fine - likely dependent on time of year), nice chowders and other fare.  great location for business lunches with ample parking.  i like the wharf-ish atmosphere which doesn't go overboard with kitshy items but works well with the old distillery flavour of the room.    service is friendly and quite efficient.

absolutely great oysters! was my first time trying, & i must say ny friend was right, she frequently visits this place for oysters, i can see why! also, we tried the 2-types of mussels they have...both amazing! i will definitely be back.

i love this spot.  located in the distillery district of toronto, pure spirits oyster bar and grill shucks a wide variety of east and west coast mollusks.  sometimes you find a rare variety, like the european flat belon or the olympia, both having a dry metallic taste. alongside any oyster one should have bubbles.  not sure why but sparkling wine really enhances their salty, briny, buttery, metallic, or even fruity flavours like cucumber and melon.

not a single bad thing to say! the staff is amazingly attentive and sweet. whether you're an oyster lover, or are a oyster virgin, this is the place to go! their wine selection is amazing as well.

it was like a pricier red lobster. very large and loud. impersonal. service was... just fine. brisk and didn't check in much. food was fine. i had the brussel sprouts side. it was very dry. the duck was very nice. well seasoned and cooked just right. wine list is generous and great range of prices. dinner mates enjoyed their meals. one had the burger and shake. shake was good. burger was dry and over cooked. over all... meh.

solid meal. had the calamari for app nice tempura batter. had the halibut for main - nice, flavours were ok/solid. others had mussels - reports say very good flavour composition - but description of the broths that they were prepared in were inaccurate. will return to try their "everything is made in-house" burger.

during the last weekend of the very busy lowe’s toronto christmas market in the distillery district, my mother and i considered ourselves incredibly lucky to get a table, (not just a table, a booth) without a reservation at the pure spirits oyster house and grill. popping out of the pages of bleak house

my love of oysters and the ambiance of this place made for a perfect combination. we allowed our server to bring us the best options and her selections were superb. there are almost endless varieties of oysters to be had.
