we went for the "eat as much as you can" ribs on wednesday night. we received a warm welcome, but unfortunately our waiter turned out to be most inattentive. we were offered a starter (ciabatta garlic cheesy bread) to share while we wait for our ribs. after about 15 mins of nothing happening, we opened our wine and poured it ourselves. eventually our bread arrived along with a different waitress. she dutifully cleared our plates once we were done and asked if we were ready to order our mains. we told her that the first waiter had done that. she'll check she said.
by now we were almost a bottle of wine down, still self-service 😡. diners came and went and eventually our ribs arrived - the first waiter had not put our order in! 😠 the ribs (beef ) were delicious and tender, i had a second helping; my companion had a third! but all through our meal we had to pour our own wine, by now we were on the second bottle 🍷
a finger bowl with water and lemon to share (yuk - should be individual bowls) was placed on the table before we received the meal, so in no time the water was cold. fortunately i carry wet wipes and we cleaned up using them after the shared finger bowl experience.
the bill was produced immediately on request. i pointed out the corkage charge and made the waitress aware that we were left to open and pour our own wine. she said the first waiter rang it up. we paid and left - my dinner partner said never to return, but the food was good even though the service was appalling, so i'd like to give them another try perhaps in the distant future. service can make or break a dining experience and this was certainly a big fail!
