i don't see why everyone seems to like this pizza. it was cold and hard, but cheap. the place is always packed. if you like flat square pizza with in un-melted cheese on it, this is your place!

great pizza, amazing owner!. we were having a little family get together this past saturday and my mother-in-law offered to pick up pizza from the pizza house. she pre-ordered unbaked pizza prior to the shop opening and when she went to pick it up she realized they are cash/check only. she unfortunately only had a credit card on her. she was about to leave the shop and head back home to get her check book, but the owner stopped her and told her not to worry about it. he told her just to drop off a check in the next couple of days. who does that?? the wonderful and trusting owner of the pizza house, that's who!

best pizza around. and i mean far distances. i lived in nj for the past 5 years and looked everywhere for comparable pizza and it doesn't exist. now i live in harrisburg and will actually make the 6.5 hour round trip just for the pizza! do not pass this place up if you're ever in the area. it is well worth the wait (that sometimes wraps around the block!)

i can't believe this place is still there! i lived in ambridge for one year when i was 16, which was... 20+ years ago now. i now live in the south of france, and it is from there that i am now writing. i still think of this pizza. now, i admit, it is not a standard, chain-restaurant variety, and will not suit all tastes. but goddam if i don't still remember the crustiness/chewiness, the uncomplicated sauce, the small slices. in my day you could get plain or add mushrooms or whatever for an extra quarter. now i have access to all sorts of authentic italian pizza, but it really isn't the same. any ambridge dwellers planning on coming to the south of france, please bring me an extra large...

pizza by the tray. this is the first pizza i ate from a baby. now over 50, same pizza! same love! it's thr real deal--from the light crunch crust, unlike any other. the sauce tastes like it was just made from italian tomatoes., the cheese, fresh mozerella with an "angel dust," romana-tasting to top it off. love at first bite!!

not my favorite. the crust kinda tastes tastes like cardboard and the sauce and cheese are so bland you have to add salt and pepper and parmesean to get any taste out of it. personally i'd rather head to punxsy for some shaffer's pizza.

nostalgic. i have been eating this pizza since it was called 14th street pizza, many many years ago. i relocated 28 yrs. ago but it has remained my "must go to" every time we are in town which was about 3 weeks ago. the taste remains the same, still has the aaaahhhhhh factor. the crunchy crust combined with flavorful sauce is the perfect combination. must have it with extra cheese, unmelted. people state that you have to grow up with the taste to enjoy it. not so. we have brought it back to new england to extended family members and they also love it. cannot wait until our next trip to sink my teeth into this culinary delight.

pittsburgh pizza treasure. ambridge police station has got to be the best anywhere. reminds me of my fellow italian neighbors who had a shop in a little mill town in the 50's - the real deal! doesn't get any fresher, the price is right and the atmosphere amazing-just how do they memorize the exact orders of the many awaiting, drooling faces, without writing it down?
had to move to other side of pittsburgh and still make the trip to police station pizza when i can no longer live without it.
i normally don't tell too many people about it cause i don't want them to eat it all up before i get there.
love the guys. love the pizza.
