not just awesome pizza. lunch with my husband today found the parking lot full (yet again) but we took a chance and went in. there were only 3 other tables taken. i think most of the cars belong to folks hitting the bar that's shared with pizza chef. i've had their pizza (which was soo good!) but i wanted a sub today. i went with the large meatball. it was so big it came cut in thirds. i thought the light tomato sauce would make it dry but the taste of the homemade meatballs took care of that. they tasted as if they had a hint of wine in the sauce. the chunky tomatoes made the sandwich so good. my husband had the monster burger and it lived up to it's name. it even got a thumbs up from him and those are hard to come by.

good food great people awesome prices. everything about pizza chef is great. the food is made to order, the beer is cod, the staff is great and the prices aren't bad at all. pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and onions is the best!

nice waitress but her good attitude couldn't cover up for the knat problem. they landed on our food, in our beer, and completely ruined our dining experience. our drinks were comped and she apologized over and over but it's definitely an issue worth correcting quickly.

disappointed. heard great things about the pizza here from ov locals so i gave it try. there's nothing unique about the thin crust. it's very cafeteria like, right off the truck. very "food court." the subs looked huge though and the service was out of this world!

it's always good to come home.... been a while since i dined in here. since my last visit they have done some additional remolding on the restaurant side. the counter in the back has been completely redone and looks outstanding. i noticed the back wall also has a kinda rock like finish on it now too. it looks good.

we were a group of 3 on this visit and i went with a medium pepperoni pizza. my companions had had a cheese steak and fried chicken sandwich. the cheese steak comes on a steak platter and fills it from side to side. not quite as big as it used to be but still a large and impressive sandwich. the same can be said for the fried chicken breast sandwich. it also comes on a steak platter. half of it is the sandwich while the other half is loaded with steak fries. pictures included.

last but not least my pie... the pizza here is truly unique. made with a thin crust on a cookie sheet and slices are cut in squares. one of the best pizza's hampton roads for sure.

as always the food was cooked to perfection. that's why this is one of the very few places i go to that consistently gets a 5 star review. they're that good imop. check them out!

this time... burgers!. normally when i stop in pizza chef i'm having some seriously good pizza. this time i'm reviewing something else. burgers! pizza chef makes and insane burger. let me get your mouth watering...

on this visit i had a bacon cheeseburger. first they start off with what is easily a 1/3 or half pound sirloin burger which is grilled any way you like. what they do with the bacon is unique. it's crushed / crumbled and put on the top bun of your burger, then covered with cheese and put it in the oven to melt. this seals the bacon under the cheese and you don't loose any of it. the lettuce, tomato and whatever else you request is put under the patty on the bottom bun and all you need to do is add your mustard & ketchup and you're ready to eat. this all comes served on a large platter with either steak fries or onion rings.

you can't miss here. everything on the menu is good. most of the staff has been there for a long time and it's a good local place to patronize. check'em out!

truely unique pizza. this is absolutely one of my favorite pizzeria's ever. i've been a customer of this location since i was a child back in the 70's when my parent's lived in norfolk. over the years i have returned time and time again even though it's extremely out of my way these days. it's that darn good.

pizza chef serves their pie one way and one way only. it's a thin crust cooked on a cookie sheet, and then the slices are cut into squares. sizes are small, medium and large. it's an extraordinary pie.

i love the mozoralla blended cheese they have. it's got a 'tang' to it that gives it a bit of zip. kind of like a feta, only it's not. the toppings are good and you can build your own pie or order one of their specialty pizza's such as a supreme (8 toppings), godfather (an all meat pizza) and there are several others as well.

pizza chef is also not only a pizza palor, it's a full service restaurant. they have steaks (which are very good), seafood, chicken and more. there's also a full service bar on the other side of the kitchen area from the dining room.

the staff is friendly and attentive as well and i highly recommend the restaurant.

the only 'con' here can be the parking. pizza chef is located in a tiny strip shopping center with parking in the front (paved) and the rear of the building (not paved) and when they get busy, it can be tough to find a spot to park. if it's raining, you'll be walking around some puddles. don't let that keep you from going.

two in one. i like that the somewhat new bar area stays separate than the family dinning area. the best of both worlds. my family has been going there for years.

my favorite pizza. ive been going here since i was a little kid and its the same great tasteing pizza now as it was back then. the crust is thin and very crunchy and flaky. the cheese is thick and flavorfull and the sauce is just right. the cheese fries and chicken wings are dang good as well. ill keep goin as long as they keep making great pizza.

not bad! surprisingly pricey but very filling.. it looks like crap on the outside but the inside is pretty nice. half of it is a restaurant, the other half a bar. the pizza is different, but good. it's square, not round and the crust is kind of flakey.

pretty pricey too. a small pizza with just cheese is $7.99, which doesn't sound bad but once you add on tax your paying $10 for a small. compare that to $7 at mona lisa's. tonight i got the "godfather" pizza, which is the meatlovers pizza, and the medium costs $16.99. add on tax and a tip and you're spending $20. but it's extremely filling and will easily give you two belly-filling meals so that makes up for it.

i haven't tired anything else on the menu but they do have subs, pasta, and various appetizers. actually i did have the nachos and the cheese wasn't melted enough. but i like the place enough to want to go back and try out the other items.

as for the service, the waitresses are pretty attractive and they are always checking in on you, almost to the point of being annoying.
