order a single slice. they're enormous. the atmosphere is a perfect balance of grime and hip decor with a non-pretentious, simple menu. i have found that the nicer a restaurant in kansas city looks, the more inattentive and stuffy the staff seem to be. these guys and girls were top tier and the most genuine staff i have encountered in quite a while. the pizza itself was great. tasty and crisp crust, not greasy in the slightest, and a great ratio of cheese to sauce. you can tell these guys love making their food.

nice al fresco dining. a slice, a beer, and a nice spot on the patio -- you add the conversation. nice way to spend a spring afternoon.

great outdoor dining area. i love the atmosphere here. it has one of the largest outdoor dining areas in the city. however, my favorite type of pizza is pepperoni and theirs is very oily. so much so that it soaks through the crust. i am also not a fan of the flavor of their red sauce; i like more onion and garlic in mine. other toppings don't create the oil problem, but still suffer from the red sauce issue.

giant slices. i've had all different types of pizza and pizza 51 takes the pie when it comes to huge slices. great atmosphere with friends, and have decent drink specials. their garlic cheese bread is to die for! any pizza is great to try!! don't want to miss this hidden treasure!

pizza by the slice, always nice!. i love that my husband and i can go and order our own choice of toppings on a slice of pizza. many times eating pizza with a group can be awkward because some like meat, others like veggies, and a few only want cheese. at pizza 51, order a huge slice of pizza with whatever toppings your heart desires!

delicious!. this is my favourite pizza in kansas city. the slices are larger than your head, and cut chicago-style for easy eating. great topping options, everything from broccoli to cream cheese, feta, olives, ricotta, artichoke - plus all the 'normal' toppings. seating is a little squished inside, but if it's warm enough to sit on the patio, it's fine. pro-tip: if it's a friday or saturday night and we suspect it's going to be crowded, we call ahead.

seriously-why eat domonio's?!. this is some great pizza. so, tell me exactly why is it some people call pizza hut and domonio's 'cause i just don't get it!

love it. this place doesn't drown the pizza in cheese (unless you ask them to) so you can identify and enjoy your toppings. their salads are great, as are the dressings. oh, and don't forget the garlic cheesesticks....yum. great place to sit outside when the weather is nice and have a giant slice and a glass of boulevard wheat.

gotta love garage restaurants. okay, here is the apparent secret; if you're serving food in kansas city, do it out of a gas station building. your food is destined to be great. like oklahoma joe's, pizza 51 is no exception. my only advice on eating this massive pizza, as the crust is thinner than most, go easy on the toppings so that all flavors have a fighting chance to shine though.

great pizza and location. hard to believe, but we like this pizza as much as waldo and d'bronx. great toppings, even the veggie combo, and in the warm weather it has the best patio in the city for kids running around. and it's so big that if you don't like kids, they won't bug you.
