love it. this spot is ideal to drop into before a show or a movie and then return for a cold beer and some good old fashioned live music. the kind we used to hear in pubs. the food is tantalising and generous. i had never had gumbo before but, if this is how it should taste, then i will be having more. next time i will be trying the southern fried chicken which looks so good. the staff are friendly and not in your face. book a table if you are arriving after 7pm.

have been here a couple of times now. it's hard to get a table, but there's definitely a reason for that! the food has been great both times we have been there, and although service has been a bit slow, that's because there are so many people in there. the atmosphere is great and the staff make up for the slow food service with their amazing attitude and friendliness.

would travel to geelong just for the burgers here! amazing! fast and friendly service too. highly recommend!

i love a good themed junk food restaurant. and even more than that i love the cleaned up new geelong cbd without the (deserved) crowds or noise. those all important vegan options wouldn't go astray though.

we came just after the lunch rush wanting some new orlean dining experience.

after going through their menu, we chose their southern fried chicken with the coleslaw, cornbread, and cajun fries. the chicken was succulent, and seasoned very well. our second dish was the shrimp po’boy which my partner thoroughly enjoyed, shrimp wasn’t dry and had great flavours.

the food at pistol pete’s is value for money and surely won’t disappoint making this a must try.

quirky southern usa style cafe. nicely located on little malop street which is undergoing an impressive rejuvenation. the cafe is full of all sorts of interesting southern and american style adornments. also, there was great music playing. overall it’s a fun place with great inside and outside areas.

i chose the gumbo bowl and corn bread. it was a cracking dish. spicy and full of flavour with a lovely tasty sausage. it really packs a punch and is a mighty dish. better than any gumbo i’ve had in melbourne. my companions enjoyed their dishes too, two burgers and one rice dish.

good place. recommended.

the ambience and atmosphere was brilliant with blues that transports you to another place. however the burger itself was a let down. buns were heavy and stiff as if taken straight from the fridge. otherwise a simple burger one would make at home.

one of the best bowls of gumbo i've had in australia. the broth was thick and full of flavour.

and the voodoo munchies pack a punch.
i was expecting it to be a serve of bites of fried chicken & fries, topped with sauce. instead, it was fries topped with bites of chicken which had been soaked in an intensely hot marinade. boy did they have a kick! (so it was actually quite nice to have the fries not covered in the same sauce!)

really cool vibe, good drinks menu and the staff are all really friendly & up for a chat

definitely a highlight on the little malop dining scene

an enjoyable meal with friends here. i ordered the fried chicken with sides of fries, coleslaw and cornbread. the slaw was a good and needed compliment to the chicken. cornbread was decent but not as sweet as some i have had in the states.

i have to be honest that the chicken did not look great when it came on the plate. it was well seasoned however and was pretty well cooked. the meat was moist and succulent. there are no bones in the chicken that made for easy work by knife and fork (or your hands if you prefer to eat it that way!). it went down pretty easy along with a beer.

one regret though - not ordering waffles to go with the chicken!

pistol pete's made me miss soul food from the states and was a pretty good feed that took me back down memory lane!

great place and good food! always a good night out the back in the courtyard!! good atmosphere and music. great spot on a nice arvo/evening.

had a really great time here, music and atmosphere is nice and lively. food was nice, i had the chicken and waffles admittedly i've never had anything like it before so it wasn't amazing but tasty enough. chips are to die for however! great service and will come back to try something different.

absolutely fantastic. never had this type of food and i loved it. had pulled pork, cajun fries, okra and corn bread. will definitely go again and tell my friends.

this place is like being back in new orleans! the food is spot on and the vibe of the place is perfect! if you're looking for something to cure a hangover, hit up the chicken and waffles!

friday night meal with the boys, great atmosphere, like what they've done with the place. laid back feeling with a live band playing smooth blues. best setting to have a burger and a beer with a few mates. the mojo burger with a generous serving of cajun fries was a big meal. very tasty and all the elements were done perfectly, cannot complain!

came here for a birthday lunch celebration. i'd love to come back again at night when they have live performances! the food was cooked to perfection. my partner commented that the food tasted just like authentic deep south cuisine. the sweet and fruity purple haze beer was also delicious. it's so great to have a place like this in geelong! looking forward to going back.
