my very favourite gelato in the world. i have been going for years and they are consistently the best. with so many flavors (try cinnamon it's awesome) you can not go wrong.

love the new look! great espresso and donuts! also, had a med cone - choc and pistachio - great combo! note to the ownership, granted this might be pricey, but add a some pistachio into the pistachio gelato and that would take your pistachio gelato from 10/10 to infinity/10!

stopped by a few days after the grand reopening. the store looks great, fresh look - amazing renovations. enjoyed a macchiato from the new esspresso bar and a scoop of mango sorbet! great as always!

i've gone every year for over twenty years and have never been disappointed. love the cinnamon gelato. you can't go wrong with any of these amazing flavours.

it is the original, it was the best, without peer, but most if not all the competition blows their socks off now- i'm not sure if new owners or they've given up but quality of flavour, nuance, selection is absent and the staff have forgotten the meaning of small shop service. sorely disappointed.

got caught in the over priced tourist trap. gelato was watery and wasn't really flavourful. good place to fix a sweet craving though. overall it was ok.

great place to cure a sugar craving. they offer generous gelato portions and offer a selection of la rocca cakes in the fall and winter. located just north of the main market square, it's also a good spot if you're looking for a quieter coffee break.

definitely an office favourite, piccolo grande is located in our building and its great place to go when you need a pick-me-up in the afternoon. they have a wide array of flavours to choose from. only downfall is that the service is a little slow.

the ice cream is incredible. it s a little bit pricey but you don't have to pay any extra for a waffle cone, which is pretty sweet. highly recommended flavours are oreo, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate caramel

mediocre gelato - mostly tourists and people who don't know about stella luna go here. i used to like it before i tried proper gelato but the price definitely doesn't match up to the quality.

fresh and friendly. the gelato is easily the best gelato i've ever had. it's comparable to the gelato i've had in italy. it's well worth the price and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. whenever i have friends visiting ottawa i bring them here. a desert i discovered there not too long ago is gelato with waffle and expresso on top. delicious!!!

great gelato - way too expensive. grabbed one scoop of ice cream in a cup with some friends over the weekend. went to the cash register with a $5 bill in hand expecting i'd get change and to my surprise it was $5.70 for a tiny scoop of gelato. the gelato was delicious but there's better priced treats out there for sure.

best gelato in ottawa. pros: huge portion sizes, great authentic flavors, good value, good location and service

great gelato, defensive owner. piccolo grande in the market offers a large selection of unique and traditional gelato and sorbet flavours. the prices may seem high for the size of the cups you receive but keep in mind, this location is in the heart of the downtown market and caters mostly to tourists willing to pay that price. the scoops they use are large and they overfill the cups for you to offset the high prices.
the gelato, while always perfectissimo, was recently overshadowed by an overly defensive owner (or employee?) who upon suggesting that she taste her "lemon tango" sorbet because it tasted 'off' immediately began arguing about how fresh she knows the ingredients are and to not tell her things "like this garbage."
i was quite surprised at her defensive stance. if i was in the food business and a customer told me that one of my dishes might be "off" i would be very happy to hear it from her instead of in a review or in a ministry of health notice to shut down. just sayin'
regardless of this one-time poor service occurrence, i have frequented piccolo grande on murray for years and will likely still do so. i just will avoid the one particular woman and keep my mouth shut if i get an expired flavour... or go to pure gelato where the employees are always in great spirits.

gelato extrodinaire!. i just stumbled uppon this place for the first time, and it certainly won't be the last. had the chicken biryani halal, lentil soup, chololate gelato and a mochachino. everything was so delicious and flavorful. the service was extremely helpful and friendly. i am defititely recommending this to everyone.
