horrible customer service, serve with attitude, msg added to their dish. i express my concern about the attitude issue makes me not wanting to come back, the waiter said thank you for not coming back! awesome!

being a viet nam veteran, i find phan's garden a true viet namese treasure.  my wife and i go there at least once a month and are treaded with respect and great service.  the staff always has a smile and is there to answer questions about the menu.  it is clean, authentic and fresh food, always.  in my opinion, it is the best viet namese restaurant in the milwaukee area.  it is not mcdonalds, nor burger king.  they do it their way, and that is the best way.  real vietnamese cuisine.  if you are looking for a steak and potato, don't come here, as this is real foreign food, not some american knock off.

it's not as good as people think. why is everything so darn sweet? every dish had sugar in it - the fish, the phone, the papaya salad. wtf. plus we waited almost an hour for our food. what's up with the gratuity fee? not getting my gratuity as a customer. advice for business owners - gratuity fee is a good way to drive away customers for life when service and food are not that good anyway. of people wanted to tip, they will. you don't need to force them by placing this "gratuity" charge.

stop in, you won't be disappointed.. was taken here for lunch by a friend and i loved it. i only wish i remembered the #'s of the food we ate. it was all pretty good. i would recommend this if you are a fan of chinese/vietamese food. service isn't the best, so don't expect 5 star, but the food is really well done.

food is ok, but service could use some help. the egg rolls are great, sometimes taste too heavy with the fish sauce. pho is bland. the only dish i'd recommend is b14 (rice noodles with veggies, grilled meat, egg roll). i would also ask that they give more meat instead of fat as i did have a bowl once where grilled meat was more like 1/10 meat and the rest charred fat, ick.

the staff/owners must be pretty confident in their reputation as a "good viet place" b/c their service pretty much is lacking. they are very slow, sometimes rude. vietnamese people are very welcoming and gracious for business, so i don't know what's going on with this crowd.

i give it 3 stars out of 5.

phans garden is a treat!. this is my very favorite restaurant in town, and i come back again and again. the folks at phans get to know you if you are a regular, even to the point where they know what you order. personally, i would stick with the vietnamese menu rather than the chinese... you can get chinese food anywhere in milwaukee! the best dishes i've had are chicken with lemon grass and curry; the basil chicken, the bun thit nuong cha jia ( a noodle dish layered with lettuce salad, cucumber and carrots, cilantro, mint, bean sprouts, vietnamese style barbeque pork, and spring rolls, with a sweet fish sauce to pour over it all... wow!) there is also a noodle dish that is what i would call chow fun in calfornia, with wide rice noodles, combo of veggies and meat/shrimp, and a smoky flavor to it- just ask them for the one that is like chow fun- they know what you are talking about! enjoy!
