peshawri - itc grand chola

hi friends,

i tried this resturant recently.seating is good.atmosphere is also good.but food was a big let down... may be because i am a veggie !!.......ofcouse it could burn a hole in th pocket !!

our experience with peshawari was very good. the hotel is, needless to stay, massive, jazzy and reeks of opulence all over.

the restaurant is supposedly themed based on peshwar and i think they've got the decor right.

ambiance and service: i would rate it top notch. the only sore point is definitely the seating arrangement. some of the tables have proper sofa/seating while some are basically cushioned stools. i don't care what they do and how they sit in peshwar but if we are paying this much, we need to be sitting comfortably as well and that is missing. that's the primary reason for missing rating 5.

food: the starters and the food we had was perfect. the portions were good, service was good and it tasted really good. the only sore point is the variety in the menu.. there are really very few options. it is basically a kebab + bread + side dish restaurant. there are no soups, rice varieties, biriyani etc., and dessert options were very limited. but that didn't really matter to me because we got what we wanted and it tasted good. pricing is a tad on the higher side but i guess that's a conscious decision people make going there.

overpriced
like most other places in the itc grand chola, this is a classic example of all style and zero substance. you have limited choices, there no soups or rices by the way and is supposed to be a 'speciality' kebab joint which was told to me quite arrogantly by the maitre'd at the peshawari.

the price for 2 (without drinks) would be 3000 rs, which considering what little choices they have to offer is highway robbery. but it is all under the guise of being a 7 star hotel. to be honest, the fact that they are 5 star is a surprise.

the food quality at this place can be also be rated as just above average at best ( i am being very very very generous here)

comfort
i would rate this zero, as the chairs (as mentioned as 'specialty' before) do not have a back rest and are like a moda style of seating, go figure the comfort in that.

will i be going back?
no. and moreover, i will also not be recommending them to anyone.

if this is your thing, its cool but its extremely far away from mine and i give it a low rating.

this is one of those places where you get one of the best kebabs and authentic indian ambiance . the kebabs i had were mutton seekh,tandoori aloo and murgh reshmi and all of them were perfectly cooked and tasted really good aswell . then came the famous dul bukhara which was on of the best dal makhanis ive had . the prices for the dishes are quite on the high side . the only reason i give it 4stars is because of the seating arrangement is on sort of stools with no proper backrest . and the onion kulcha suggested to me by the server was quite bad . otherwise an awesome experience for when you want to celebrate a big occasion.
