never going there again.... i will not be returning to this diner. i was essentially accused of theft after eating dinner today. i was waiting outside on the bench while my wife took my son to the bathroom and was then waiting to pay the bill.
i was approached by someone who did not identify herself (while seated outside) and was asked in front of several people if i had taken care of my bill, and was presented with a copy of the check. i informed her that my wife was in line to pay.
apparently, she was so worried that i was attempting to dine and dash, that she cut my wife off while in line to reprint our check. i guess i'm the only one at the table of 6 that she remembered, which is pretty sad.
when my wife called back to complain, rather than apologizing for her mistake, she defended her actions saying, "it's happened before" as though that makes a practical public accusation of theft ok. i have never attempted to steal food from a restaurant, and certainly never there, so a statement like "it's happened before" is simply ridiculous and offensive.
we also found out that this same person is the general manager, or so she claimed, of the restaurant. it's a shame, over the nearly dozen times that we've dined there we've had great food and service, but 1 spoils the bunch as they say.
i've published this same review in other locations and notified the bbb. they ought to be careful of making accusations like this directly or indirectly - it's a great way to lose a business to a lawsuit. they are lucky i am not a vindictive person.
it's hilarious to infer that someone sitting on a bench reading a book (while still on the property) is attempting steal. frankly, it's unfathomable and very irresponsible at the least.
