our thai house restaurant

i asked them for less sweetness in my food and they gave me so .. which is definitely foak (first of a kind :d) in a long long time .. :)

i have been sharing this almost every time we go to an asian place .. that somehow the sweetness in the food is a bit more .. bit more than we are used to .. and when we ask for less sweet food most often than not the chefs express their inability to do so as the sauces are already like that.
it was really nice that here at our thai house they managed to go less sweet :)

the other thing to note is that they use black pepper quite a bit and define the food hotness level by the use of black pepper along with chilly and sauces etc.
if you look closely at the photo attached (the tofu drunken noodles) there is a lot of crushed pepper.

the food, however, was nice.
the tofu noodles were kinda the best we have had here in spokane .. the thai basil chicken was good too .. may be not the best i have had but right up there ..

this just wasn't thai food. it was more like texmex/indian with thai garnishes. the basil chicken dish was full of red bell peppers and too sweet of sauce which overwhelmed everything, and the fried rice was like a dark indian seasoning flavor instead of bright and savory umami. the basil chicken itself was very dry and overcooked too. the phad thai was sorely lacking flavor as well. this was a surprising miss for us.

if you find yourself in spokane, washington, hankering for some thai food, look no further than our thai house. i found this little gem thanks to a great groupon deal, and what better time to try out a new restaurant than the start of spring break.

excellent food. do not judge this restaurant by the looks on the outside. the food was fantastic. the pork pad thai was exquisite, the chicken salad with rice noodles was exquisite, spring rolls were fantastic, the masseman curry the best.

this thai restaurant is really good. located very close to gonzaga. the pad thai is great and i also suggest thai iced coffee. the staff was friendly and kind. it can be a bit pricey.

this is my favorite thai place in town.   they are located on hamilton by gonzaga university, and i seem to end up there every other week for lunch.
the server(usually the owner) is fast, busy and friendly.  i have tried multiple dishes but come back to the pad thai almost every visit.  heat level that you request can make a big difference, i usually pick medium-hot and i don't regret it later.    it's packed in there during lunch usually, but your food is delivered fast enough to get in and out...  i keep trying to drag more friends to try it, but they always push for thai bamboo, so i guess i need to try that one also to compare...

better than bangkok thai. i feel that our thai house has better food and better service for a way better price than bangkok thai. after discovering our thai house, it's the only thai place i go to near gonzaga's campus.

delicious!. my husband and i are from an area with a lot of authentic thai food. my mother is thai and used to make me a lot of thai food, so i'm a fairly picky when it comes to what is "authentic" and what is not.

i've eaten here twice, both times were amazing. delicious, flavorful, and also, an appropriate spice level (not as american-ized as thai bamboo).

the prices are bit higher than what you would normally find, but the food is well worth it!

and, i only live 5 minutes away--score!

keep up the good work!

disappointing. after reading the reviews, i was looking forward to trying this place during my business trip. although the staff was friendly and courteous, they were extremely slow. it took 5-10 minutes to bring my drink (a can of soda) after placing my order, and another 5-10 minutes to bring back my credit card after they picked it up (at the peak only three other tables were occupied, with two people working the front).

both the appetizer and the entree arrived at the same time (kinda defeats the purpose of getting an appetizer). the phad see ew, one of my favorite dishes, was super garlic-y and a letdown (i've probably tried it at 50-75 other thai restaurants). although the decor was clean and comfortable, they had horrible vocal music played way too loud and a large hanging tv showing an aerobics program (i'm more old school in that i think tvs are only appropriate in sports bars and other similar kinds of joints). on the plus side, the food was fresh and the serving sizes were generous. that, however, wasn neither enough to make me want to come back nor recommend it.

best thai in town. this restaurant is new in the gonzaga district and is the best thai food in spokane. i was never really a fan of pad thai, they changed that for me. we couldn't stop eating it. the cashew chicken was to die for as well as the very full spring rolls. they definately know what they are doing. there is a warm atmosphere here. it is decorated so that it is warm and inviting. wlll definately be eating here more.

while driving by myself one day i noticed this new restaurant called our thai house.  it looked interesting to me and i decide to tell geo about it so that we would try it out sometime.  the funny thing is that when i mentioned it to geo, he had seen it on his own too.  it was next one out list. finally we go to go!  we called ahead to make reservations, but as it turns out they were not needed, the lady on the phone told us to just come in.  se we did. this place is located at 1415 n. hamilton st. spokane in the the gonzaga area of town.  it is very welcoming inside, the kind of place that will make you want to visit thailand.... geo always wants to go. we ordered tom kha soup....one of our favorites.  this is is made with tomatoes... a little different style than other places i have been.  it was good!  curiously enough we were asked what kind if meat we wanted in our soup.  other places i have been, it has always been served with chicken, so we asked for chicken.  this was our choic

just what the neighborhood needed. lovely spot! the pad thai lunch dish was excellent. i wish they had a combo pad thai and curry to choose from on the menu. beautiful interior and excellent food! what a great addition to the gonzaga neighborhood.

our thai house is thai goodness. living in the neighborhood, my family and friends have eaten here at least half a dozen times. i like my food mild, but even saying "no spice" has a slow afterburn (usually two tall glasses of ice water solves that). the grilled pork is especially lovely, but we've liked everything we've tried so far. each meal comes with a salad topped with a vinaigrette (raspberry?) dressing that is fresh and satisfying. biggest surprise is the donuts. no kidding, they offer donuts for dessert! hand-made and hand-fried, they are hot, light, and dipped in sugar. the dunking sauce - a condensed-milk concoction - isn't necessary. the donuts themselves are a funky, fun end to the meal.
