love orphan! never had a bad breakfast here. can get busy on the weekends which means a wait and slower service, but the food is terrific and reasonably priced.

excellent place for brunch on a lovely saturday morning. be aware the wait can be a bit long, however this place is worth it. the presentation was absolutely beautiful!! and the food was delicious. the service however needs some improvement.

orphan is a great place to have a memorable breakfast.  the food is made with quality.  i had the special which was strawberry, lemon, and rosemary pancakes.  they serve naked coffee, which i think is a little on the expensive side, but very nuanced.

a most wonderful and authentic breakfast (and lunch?) cafe-restaurant. coffee is great including the decaf.

i've eaten here before and everything is made fresh with a california flair. if you enjoy rosemary their fresh bread is made with the herb as well as many dishes. tasty, clean, with a cozy atmosphere (a bit of a fight for parking as this place is smack dab in a neighborhood.)

kind of a mean place. food was ok but the service was a little little lacking. when i emailed "chris"about our experience as the website invited to do i received this little charmer....

"chris, when you can grasp basic 4th grade grammar gimme a "shout out" ("shout out" was a reference to sex and the city season 4) you should catch it. it is super sad to me that you are concerned about milk for your oatmeal. also, your grade school teachers have failed you.

ps do not eat at orphan anymore until you seek therapy or an online hooked on phonics course

classy! unfortunately there was quite a few more things than oatmeal milk that was an issue but i guess this guy wasn't going to let that get in the way of his nasty reply. oh well, maybe he hadn't had his morning coffee.

orphan breakfast house has been around for at least a couple of years. so i'm not sure why i discovered only last week that i really ought to go there and try one of the several vegan options on their lunch menu. the one i decided to order when i went to lunch with my friend dee was the crispy noodles and crunchy vegetables, described on the menu as "pan-fried noodles in house ginger-soy sauce with bean sprouts, julienne carrots, shiitake mushrooms, celery and broccoli, topped with cilantro and scallions." for an extra cost, i added tofu to this flavorful dish. other vegan choices on the orphan lunch menu included: single happiness, consisting of crisp brown rice grilled in ginger-soy with summer vegetables grilled in spicy orange chili oil, to which tofu may be added. nuevo latino roll ups, which consists of angel hair pasta grilled in ginger-soy and rolled in a whole wheat tortilla with spring greens, julienne vegetables, and bean sprouts. this dish is served with peanut sauce. wok f

yum!. had an early lunch/ late breakfast here today--not our first visit, were back because the food is good, healthy and has variety. great service too. had the shrimp wrap and the zen breakfast and we'd order them again. check this hidden gem out.

i would recommend this place. not too long a wait to be seated. the coffee was excellent...i need my coffee in the morning and this woke me up. good selection of teas, service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. now the food...best blueberry corn meal pancake ever. fluffy and light. the artichoke omlette was filled with artichoke hearts and the eggs were done perfectly. i'm really a fan of breakfast and there are very few places in sacramento i would recommend, and this place is one of them. it's a great neighborhood place and an excellent place to bring friends and family!

lil' neighborhood restaurant. walking distance from mckinley park, this little restaurant has outstanding breakfasts and is a favorite of mine and my friends. brazilian coffee is packed with flavor. unique menu items. i often order the gfy (granola, fruit, and yogurt) and have had the eggs lulu and pancake specials - one pancake special was made with coconut milk. my friends can't live without the rosemary bread (it is yummy). recently, the restaurant opened for lunch, and i had a flavorful veggie sandwich on squaw bread that did not disappoint. get there early on the weekends since there is often a wait for breakfast, and for good reason! highly recommend.
