after a disappointing ramen experience at another well reviewed place in town, this really hit the spot. very good ramen on par with a good place in japan.

my first experience of ramen and am i glad that it was here at orenchi ramen. if i had any doubts about the choice of restaurant, the crowd waiting outside the door in the winter cold (the inside wait area was also packed) would have been enough to convince me otherwise. we had to wait for around 45 minutes for a table.
unfortunately they don't have any ramen in a veggie broth, so the vegetarian in our party had to order a bunch of appetizers instead. the agedashi tofu was a revelation, and the wasabi potato salad bowl was licked clean. i didn't particularly care for the spicy edamame, or the beer battered onion rings (had no personality.) now coming to the star of the show - the ramen had the most wonderful broth. it is the kind of broth you wish you had on a cold winter day, or when you are sick. hot, flavourful, and soul-nourishing. i wish there was more pork in the dish, but it definitely came together really well with the broth, the seaweed, the egg and the truffle oil. we washed this amazing meal down with sake - hot and cold, and asahi (beer)

tasty, no frills and lengthy wait....
the place was crowded even for a wednesday lunch. reached at 12:00 and had to wait for 45 mins before being seated. service was pleasant and quick.
enjoyed the food. went for the orenchi ramen which appears to be the favourite. the portion of pork is however small.
worthy for a visit

orenchi is drawing the crowds on its reputation for its tonkotsu broth, the ramen soup of slow-simmered pork bones that have been all the rave in the last two years. if a new ramen shop opens without serving tonkotsu, you can bet it won’t get much buzz.

...they have all three tonkotsu, shoyu, and shio soups. they get crowded super early. the beautiful half-done egg speaks v o l u m e s. that is all.

this is definitely a bowl of ramen worth waiting for, but do go early, for the reasons i gave above, and the fact that they only serve 500 bowls a day (and apparently only 15 servings of their tsukemen). service is efficient and friendly. the bowls are fairly-priced.

orenchi ramen is the sister restaurant of sumika (review here). i was pretty surprised when we got to the restaurant, it was located in some run down strip mall (with a bunch of closed down stores). the interior lo

best ramen ever. the orenchi ramen is the way to go. the hardboiled egg is consistently perfect -solid white, with a layer of solid yellow then soft yellow.

the broth is a great mix of flavors with very fresh noodles. packed at lunch, so need to get there before 11:45.
