olneyville new york system

have you ever had a rhode island-style hot dog?i'm sorry - a wiener! never call it a hot dog here. i learned the hard way.well, we went to olneyville new york system restaurant to try one. and, it's an old-school, almost soup nazi-esque vibe.the menu is small, you go up to the counter to order and don't ask any questions.i ordered one wiener, and a coffee milk. the wiener comes with sauce, mustard, onions and celery salt.

the day after ashleigh and steve’s wedding, jake and i went to go hang out at my aunt joyce’s house for a bit. we weren’t really on a schedule, we just had to drive to rhode island that day. it’s lovely not having a schedule. after hanging out with joyce and my uncle kevin, we headed out for a little brunch before our road trip down south. they took us to the place of their first date! it’s a place called king phillip restaurant.

i love wieners with chili and onions and this place was no exception. however, will these wieners knock your socks off? maybe not...but it's very easy to see how a place like this has become a local favorite. it's humble diner style food that calls your name after a night of drinking, or when you want a quick bite to eat, or want to take the family out for a cheap meal. it's a place one develops a fondness for by growing up with it.

i have never once tried the famous olneyville new york system hot weiners until i had a sudden craving for hot dogs and thought ‘hey let’s make a trip back to rhode island’. we also got cheese fries because we were so hungry. i wished i had tried them when i was in ri!

it is the original and a part of ri. this is a must do item. 3all the way with coffee milk.

will be back. stopped in while visiting from florida - i had seen it on a food show - great wieners (hot dogs to the rest of us)
great food - nice employees - the sauce is not too spicy but flavorful - wiener quality meat not too salty

not fancy - worth the trip

what i miss most. living in florida has its good points, but what i miss most from back home in ri is 3 all da way,,of course when i was younger it was more like 5.....lorraine and i are planning an october visit and before we unpack, see the relatives, or do anything else, we'll be grabbing our best friends margaret and mike and headin to olneyville.....yes ,,,,,3 here and i'll take 3 to go ....all the way is the only way...............

in my humble opinion, there’s few things in this world more divine and glorious than a greasy new york system hot wiener . it’s like a taste of heaven in tube-shaped form. each time i enter the “pearly gates” of olneyville, it feels like an out-of-body experience. celestial bliss as a chorus of angels play trumpets upon my arrival….ok, ok, maybe i’m getting carried away…but these wieners are my weakness! and i’m sure i’m not the only one with this guilty pleasure! olneyville new york system has become a rhode island staple (ironically, despite the name) for both locals and tourists. whether staggering drunk during late hours or completely sober in search of a not-so-nutritious lunch, there’s just something about this mystery meat that will curb any appetite – or cure any hangover for that matter. and everyone knows there’s only one way to order a new york system hot wiener… and that’s “ all the way” . a delicious blend of yellow mustard, onion, celery salt, and meat sauce all served on

3 all the way & a coffee milk. 1st of all...this is late-night, diner food. the word 'gourmet' doesn't belong here, nor does any 5-star, zagat or michelin rating system...this is diner food, and late-night drunkenness is the norm. that said, i love this place and i love this food. i've been going here since i was old enough to fart and i have yet to see a dirty table, a rude employee or a bad plate of food. go in late-night if you can because the people & stories that run through this place are amazing...history surrounded by weiners. --- almost forgot...will everyone please stop calling them 'hot dogs', please!

we suppressed giggles and inquired about the hot wiener special, which we learned includes two hot dogs, fries, and a soda. the hot dogs, served in a steamed bun, are topped with a seasoned ground meat, chopped onions, and - the magic ingredient - celery salt.

makes me proud to be a rhode islander! two all the way, a coffee milk, and fries with vinegar please! it's an ri tradition and i'll always love it!

a r.i. natives dream. an aquired taste for sure, but one i never miss when i get back to r.i.. among the n.y. system weinie joints, this is my favorite.

the only true ny system in "roe dy'lin" is in olneyville! order them all the way and get coffee milk -best in the state!
