old world deli

belly dancers 1st saturday of each month. the ruben sandwich i had was wonderful; warm, tender, nice, fresh marbled rye bread. plus, they made a tuna wrap for a friend who is gluten and wheat intolerant. old world deli is very unique and i try to visit as often as i can. the owner is such a nice person.

the big bonus was the belly dance show. i was so impressed with the dancers when we were there. awesome dancers. some are the best i've ever seen. i hear they have a show every first saturday of the month. i'm going next time for food and entertainment.

good but not stellar............... reuben sandwich. it was nicely crafted with the kraut nestled between layers of corned beef. the swiss cheese was processed and skimpily applied and the marble rye bread is a bland substitute for a good seedy german variety. it came with kosher dill slices on the side and commercial grade corn chips. i think all in all it was a decent compromise of price for quality. it was only $6.50 so it gets an "i like it" vote. the place has a rustic appeal with rough brick floors and tables and chairs built for utility rather than comfort or beauty. it was an order-at-the-counter set-up. we thought our total may have been off, so we checked it and found we were charged for a $7.50 item we had not ordered and had not received, so check your bill before laying your money down. i'm sure the discrepancy was inadvertent. i'd go back.

a local sandwich place. great, quirky, local sandwich place in a nice old building in the downtown area.
