odom's bbq

service sucks. poor value. dim, scary, ratty-greasy atmosphere. let me be specific. the "girl" that was working the register and taking orders on 11/28/2015 at 1:00 cost odums the loss of my business and everyone that i can influence. she is a very rude and an unprofessional ass. she was rude to me, my grandson and every customer that was there while was there. i was greeted with a ugly look and then she said "i'm waiting on you." when asked if the restaurant served turkey she said "where do you see that." the other 2 employees/family members paid us no attention at all. do not, i repeat, do not visit this rat hole.

insulting service. ive been to this place 3x and have left 2x without placing an order. the workers always seem to insult me before i can place an order. they are non helpful when u ask them a question about the menu or wait time. their food is delish but customer service is terrible. i will never go back again. if this place were in a whitr neighborhood instead of west dallas, they would have shut down already. high prices and bad service is unacceptable. go to babbs, or lockharts instead

i just picked up ourlink basket from my supervisor that took orders from me and another employee, when received the basket it had two links chopped up to look like you had more and three pieces of white bread that wasn't even toasted for a grand total 8.95 for one basket and the links we're even cook through, people in prison get better meals then they serve here!!!!! you can buy a package of links for less than $8.65 and they probably got the bread from the outlet bread store, so if i had to over again i would rather go jack- in -box and get 99. cents tacos and i don't like tacos now if you want good links basket go to snappy's

super stuffed baked potato. enough said. going back today for some greens and barbque. the staff was friendly and had me cracking up!

as disappointing as the sides were, my ribs were even more of a let down.

sliced beef and sliced rib sandwich to go is what i got for lunch: $6 each, i was in the mood to sample meats and nothing else. i got the sandwiches for a reason: the bread can soak up the obligatory sauce they add, and i can then enjoy the meats on the dry side. tip worked well. the sliced beef was tasty though light on smoke: not over cooked and was a joy to bite into and chew. the ribs appear to be the better deal if you want more meat: three meaty ribs cut in half, bone in, were good and smokey and not overdone (aka fall off the bone was not how they were presented). the place is dumpy but somehow not offensive: the staff at the counter appear to lack charm but are efficient at what they do. word of warning: they use sliced white bread in their sandwiches, no buns, if that is important to you.

disrespect of staff. i used to go to odom's quite a bit. in fact i would take orders from the entire building i work at. one night i had a minor complaint that was handled improperly by the young man behind the counter. he was disrespectful and basically called me a lair, the staff needs to be taught customer service skills and the office needs to learn to return customers phone calls. i have not returned since.

no 3 meat plate so if you want to try what they offer you'll have to get a 2 meat plate and a separate sandwich. that being said the price still came in under $15. beans were nothing special. potato salad had a nice eggy/mustard flavor. the sauce had a tomato base with a decent spicy kick to an otherwise sweet sauce. brisket was good but lacked the smokey flavor most people enjoy. the beef itself was a good cut of meat and the charred edges held enough flavor to make it average. the ribs were tender and tasty. they also were a bit lacking in the smoke department but fared better than the brisket. i'd say the ribs were average. the hot links were well above average. thay were spicy and had good flavor. they also weren't oily/greasy at all as is often the case. it's worth a visit even if you may not return a second time, especially if you enjoy hot links.
