one of the hottest spots on the weekends in chancery. if you have korean friends or if you’re korea-weeb then, its highly likely that you have dined in at obar. we came in on a saturday around 7pm, not surprised the place was packed and we had to wait around 20 minutes to get a seat. the menu is designed for groups, as such i wouldn’t recommend this as a date spot. for a group catch up though, you cant go wrong with obar.

we got the chili-fried chicken and korean pancake for 4 people and we were absolutely stuffed. focusing on the food the pancake was crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle, which allowed for a nice texture. the chili-fried chicken was awesome but got a bit bland after 6-7 pieces. to obar’s credit though it was a gigantic plate of chicken. batter ratio wasn’t the best with most pieces having more batter than chicken.

for drinking, your soju comes chilled and ready for consumption. an awesome drinking spot for groups of friends. the food is on-par with places like pocha and twelve, but maybe because of the density of the space, there is a happy and busy vibe here.

showstopper: one of the best group spots in auckland. massive portion sizes.

the fried chicken is the best i have ever try before, but the spicy fish cake hot pot is not tasty like i thought. the customer service was great, but the spoon need to be wash cleaner. the service speed is fast. the environment was very nice for evening.

best spicy korean fried chicken! so delicious and the waffles chips are amazing too. the service is very good, very friendly staff. i will always come back to obar :)

obar always has great service and great food! we often come here to chill on the weekend, they have heaters outside to keep you warm too.

the service is friendly and we always feel welcome when we arrive. their fried chicken is amazing, and comes in so many varieties with sauces and seasonings. perfect pairing with beer and soju!

first impressions, the restaurant is very busy especially on a saturday night. called in advance to book but because it was just the 3 of us they advised us that we don't need a booking. we walked in with no problems. customer service is very fast pace here which is great! i was expecting to wait for atleast 30 - 40 minutes for what we ordered but everything came one by one in about 15 - 20 minutes. the hot pot was very nice but my favorite was their original fried chicken with cheese. i have been to twelve and seoul night but obar chicken is number 1 for me. definitely will come again

such good korean chicken, and we were surprised with a whole kimbap as service! i've visited the snack bar a few times so knew we wouldn't be disappointed. so glad to have such delicious korean chicken so close to my work~

super poor service, made a reservation and left phone number. then turn up only 11 mins late, the waiter said the table was given away only a minute ago. no phone call to follow and ask if we were still coming or not, i don't get the purpose of making a reservation and give them the number if they just gonna give it away anyway.

please dont make the same mistake - we ordered the pork with spring onion it was absolutely disgusting. it is full of fat, no meats. i tried to like it but it is simply not possible. i also ordered cheese spicy chicken and guess what it was even worse. we left right away without having any food except for $8 ramen and $10 bento - which were okay. i think they use low quality ingredients and i would never come back again.

came in with friends after our road trip to hamilton gardens. the fried chicken didn't have much flavour but the waffle fries were good. service was friendly and food came out quite fast.

everything was good. they could've got 4 stars from me if they have a better customer service. we went there last night and we tried to ask for an outside table. i would feel alright if they said it nicely but instead, they said no, you cant and put us right at the back inside and when i asked again as it gets too hot. one of their staff just said no, you cant in a very rude way and walked off.

great portion size suitable for eating with friends. nice friendly service. the normal fried chicken tastes better than the chilli sauce one. the soups are great and plentiful.

food was amazing, thank you very much for that, we will give you 4 stars because you kept forgetting items we ordered like our soju and other drinks, got our soju at the end when we asked a couple times which almost defeats the purpose :(

i've been to this place a few times now but i never had the chance to take photos because whenever the food comes, it just gives me the urge to eat straight away. finally managed to take a photo from my recent visit and i very much loved the chicken like always. i will definitely come back again with my friends! 🤗
