one of the hottest spots on the weekends in chancery. if you have korean friends or if you’re korea-weeb then, its highly likely that you have dined in at obar. we came in on a saturday around 7pm, not surprised the place was packed and we had to wait around 20 minutes to get a seat. the menu is designed for groups, as such i wouldn’t recommend this as a date spot. for a group catch up though, you cant go wrong with obar.
we got the chili-fried chicken and korean pancake for 4 people and we were absolutely stuffed. focusing on the food the pancake was crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle, which allowed for a nice texture. the chili-fried chicken was awesome but got a bit bland after 6-7 pieces. to obar’s credit though it was a gigantic plate of chicken. batter ratio wasn’t the best with most pieces having more batter than chicken.
for drinking, your soju comes chilled and ready for consumption. an awesome drinking spot for groups of friends. the food is on-par with places like pocha and twelve, but maybe because of the density of the space, there is a happy and busy vibe here.
