hit and miss. met some friends and got there in time for happy hour. the bartender was attentive and the appetizers available for happy hour ended up being better than the actual meals.

i ordred the seabass and lobster special. thr seabass portion was tiny and the lobster was sgmaller than two hushpuppies. my husband ordered the salmon that was to have balsalmic vinarette, and only the slaw had it, not the salmon. we went here for our 10th anniversary. we ate at the bar. the bartender was very nice. the drinks were good. they were out of the desert that was recommened by the bartender. i ate the cheesecake that tasted like it was from the grocery store, but twice the price.

always outstanding! we have been customers of the oar house for 12 years and have never, and i mean never had a disappointing meal here! we have had quiet evenings for two all the way to business meals for 16 and have been courteously treated each and every time. the salmon on the regular menu and the peppercorn filet are our absolute favorites but the spinach salad and crab claws cannot be beat. the wine selection is top notch. dessert is not an afterthought here and coffee w baileys tops it all off! do not, and i mean do not drive into dallas for a perfect evening because this is it.

see update below.... so sad...

best choice in rockwall. the oar house is the best place to go in rockwall without a doubt. my wife and i eat out at least once a week, and as we've aged we no longer venture out to dallas for fine dining on a constant basis. the oar house has become our favorite restaurant and is almost always spot on. if you have a small party (

good food, but very expensive. plan on spending about $100 or more for a family of 4.

when did the oar house become italian food??? why must all restaurants always end up at one particular food style? i don't understand why a place like this doesn't stick to the variety that kept so many happy. i can have spaghetti and metballs at home.

very very delicious food. upscale steak/seafood restaurant with great quiet atmosphere. great salads. asparagus with hollandaise sauce is excellent as a side.

pretty good. the food was good and the service was great. we went on a saturday night and it appears to be a romantic couple place. the menu had a nice variety with chicken, veal, pork, and seafood. the menu is italian, but not all of the dishes scream italian. they had an older lady performing some soft music. was alright. not too loud. dishes started at around $16 and went up to $25.

very disappointing food and service. i am an executive of a company with over 1000 employees in the dfw area and an attorney. i frequent many of the best restaurants in the metroplex, both for business as well as with my family.

based on the reviews on the internet as well the description of the food on the menu, we were really looking forward to a fine dining experience at the oar house. we have eaten in almost all of the finest restaurants in dallas & addison and was looking forward to eating at a nice restaurant closer to
home.

what a terrible choice i made to celebrate my birthday at the oar house!

i made a reservation for 4 adults and 5 children. when we walked in there were several staff just hanging out at the bar. the unenthusiatic waitress dani just asked us, "are you the party of 9?" and then pointed to a booth next to the bar that had been set up for us. they figured that seating children next to the bar was the most appropriate despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty on a thursday night.

the mushroom soup that came with our meals and the garlic bread were good. however, the rest of the food was very mediocre at best and the portions sizes were very small. we ordered a halibut which was small tough and tasteless. the lamb shank was a huge bone with
very little meat, which had a boiled flavor. the salmon was tasteless. the veal scallopini was farly decent.

during the meal, the bar tenders and waiters hung out at the bar loudly talking, and we found that to be very irritating.

overall, the dining experience was very disappointing. since i own 10 companies around the oar house, it would have been good for the oar house to have
given us good service. we frequent a lot of the nice restaurants in the area and this experience was such a disappointment that our family members all noted that this was one of our worst dining experiences that we could remember. we also cater large parties from the restaurants that we enjoy. however, i will make sure to steer any of my friends and family members away from that horribly run business.
