i’ve wanted to try nick’s place for years. the restaurant had all the of the signs of being a really good neighborhood dive. the outside was unassuming and looked like a converted house, the menu is cheap, they have almost no internet presence and they are only open until 3pm. i’m not sure what took us so long, but last weekend we finally visited for breakfast on a saturday around 11am. the restaurant is larger and a bit nicer then i was expecting. it’s simple, with a dozen wooden tables, checkered table clothes and pictures of family members (i’m guessing, they look legit) on the walls. there’s a small dining room in the front room near the entrance with a small bar, but things looked a little chaotic and we grabbed a seat in the back. we didn’t find out until after our meal but the restaurant is run by the same family (not sure the exact relation) who own and operate sophia’s, another great neighborhood restaurant that we visited last year.
