we had our lunch while visiting helen. it is a small family owned business in the heart of helen. even though the menu is limited but whatever is served is very fresh and tasty. i very much enjoyed my lunch and would definitely recommend others as well :).

just as the other reviewers stated the restaurant is small and run by a husband and wife team and therefore tends to be slow in service. the wait is rewarded though. the goulash was delicious as well as the fried cheese appetizer. my daughter commented that her bratwurst was as good as she had on a trip to germany.

food was good but a bit on the pricy side. the goolash soup was good but would have benefited with more creamy ingredients. the schnitzel sandwich was very good and quite filling.

the food here was incredible! the place is very small (5 tables i think inside) and was nearly full when we arrived. it did take a while to get food but definitely worth the wait!! service was good. chicken schnitzel, fried cheese and the chicken in mushroom sauce plates were excellent!

amazing mom and pop restaurant. the wife is the waitress and the husband in the chef. the fried cheese sandwich was amazing, as well as the potato salad. the sweet tea is good too. the place is a bit small, but does offer some outdoor seating. serves is sorta slow but worth the wait. everything appears to be made when ordered and not sitting in a pot all day long.

they are doing everything just right.. yes, the service was a little slow yesterday, as the owner kept her smile while prepping salads and desserts for five tables by herself, as her husband cooked all the entries by himself. this is a family operation. their food is wonderful. i had a wheel of brie cheese that was sliced in half, stuffed with deli ham slices, and sauteed in a frying pan. what a decadent wow taste that was! the place was just excellent in every way. everything about it exceeded expectations.

husband and wife team. food is great but service can take a while as it's a two person team. only 4 tables in the restaurant so you may need to make a reservation. they do not serve alcohol.

best german food in the area.. went here for dinner while visiting the area. first off, this place wasn't here the last time we visited the area, as it has only been here a couple of years. it is ran by a husband and wife team, that are truly german, so the food is prepared as it would be in germany. i am not a german food fan, so understand that i am not an expert on what the food should taste like. i am a fan of good food of all ethnic backgrounds, with the key being good. this food was just plain good, and is prepared when you order it. my wife had the jagerschizel and i had the chicken medallions. both were very good, the best we have had in the area. the place is small with only four tables inside and a few outside. it is located on a side street, but take the time to find this place. i don't know if it always closes early, but when we were there it closed at 6pm, so check about their closing time if going for dinner.

sunday lunch. though it was difficult to find (brown letters on a brown sign), i am glad we were persistent in our search. we felt like we were walking into someone's home...the place was tiny, there were a couple of kids in the kitchen, and we could see the cooks from our seats. we had a coupon, which i am thankful for since this place is a bit pricey. the food was authentic and very tasty. we ordered a fried cheese appetizer, a bowl of goulash soup, and a sandwich and soup combo (with chicken noodle and pork schnitzel). the unique flavors came together to form a wonderfully special lunch. the hostess was sweet, and the cook/owner was very friendly. glad we made this stop along our trip!

take a step off main street for a wonderfully quiet and authentic lunch or dinner. we were the only non-german speaking diners in this rustic, tiny haven - certainly a favorite among the locals. greeted warmly and with a genuine, bright smile was our hostess. it was more like being invited into her dining room. our children loved the fried cheese dishes, a czech specialty, and my husband and i enjoyed the german delights of schnitzel and german potatoes. very filling - we had no room for what looked like scrumptious desserts. a bit pricey - but worth every penny:).
