monthai takeaway

this is by far the best thai we've had in christchurch and frankly just some of the best food we've eaten. i truly only like to eat out if i know i'm eating something i cannot make at home and all the dishes i've eaten here just cannot be replicated. delicious! oh and the prices may seem steep, but you get huge share-able portions - way more food than you would get at another takeaway restaurant.

have just moved to north new brighton and wanted to try out the local takeaways! the menu was easy to access and order off and the staff were lovely! we got the pork wontons which came with 8 wontons which i thought was so reasonably priced they were the best pork wontons i’ve ever eaten!!! my partner had the beef pad thai which was really yummy and i ordered the chicken green curry which was also so delicious i personally am not a fan of bamboo shoots in mine and there were none so that was a major plus from me! they also delivered at a super reasonable rate and was delivered quickly! can’t wait to eat with them more and try out other parts of the menu!

simply one of the best thai food places in christchurch. the food is very genuine in its flavors, the heat can be adjusted to the consumers request and a small bag of chili flakes to adjust can be supplied. the chefs are from thailand which gives a true flavor profile. my personal favorites are the thai green curry, massaman, peanut satay and the pad thai noodles (which unlike the views of the last reviewer here, does not have a tomato sauce flavor at all). the meals (takeaway) are huge, to be truthful one meal can easily feed two people, meals come with rice and lots of veges that are cooked to perfection (not over cooked or soggy) along with generous amount of meat, the kitchen is very clean, the staff and owners are very friendly and professional. this is simply one of my highest rated reviews as it is well deserved. please note: there are only a limited number of dine in seating, this is really more a takeaway than an eat in.

a tad disappointed as we had read the other reviews and thought it would be better. ordered 4 meals and all were quite 'ordinary' with not a lot of flavour. and when does a pad thai have a tomato sauce flavour?

we love monthai.  the food is consistently of a high standard and the service (from proprietor neil) is second to none.  the portions are large (enough for 2) and delivery is fast and efficient.  there is space for approximately 8 people to dine-in if required and decor and cleanliness is of a high standard.  if you live in the area, you must give monthai a go.  i normally get the larb gai (spicy thai chicken salad) and some pork wontons.

i love this place the food is amazing, i recommend trying the panaeng curry , phad thai and the crispy chicken and cashew nuts 😍😍😍 they also have good curry puffs and satay sauce the price per dish is abit high but a dish will feed two people 👍

we get meals from here often. it is the closest thai to us which is nothing but good luck as it is hands down the best and most authentic in town. good honest staff that are always friendly and up for a chat.

monthai became my favourite after giving it a go mid-2014. i've since got my family hooked too. delicious fresh food, value for money and friendly service.

had my second takeaway from the monthai last night. the first time i had a massaman curry, which was the best i've had outside of thailand. last night i had one of the chef's specials, phud cha talay (spicy seafood). thought i'd died and gone to heaven. these people really know how to cook! the service is very friendly and efficient and i couldn't recommend it highly enough.
