poor management. mio vicino in santa clara... do not dine there. the general manager yelled at me when i asked him why our wait of 30 minutes turned into an hour. he threw his hands in the air, pointed at other customers, raised his voice loudly and thoroughly embarrassed my husband and i and our kids. after that hour wait and the total embarrassment we left and never ate dinner. planning to call the owner on monday. that guy should be fired!!!

one time. best penne bolognese around!
a bit loud, hard to get good reservations.
everything on the menu is devine, the waitstaff are meticulous and knowledgeable, and the food is amazing.

one of nicest 'small neighborhood' italian restaurants, mio vicino has become a favorite of ours to walk to. the bruschetta and anti pasta are delicious, and the service is always warm and friendly!

priced for a date. at mio vicino, you pay for the atmosphere as much as the food. they have a pretty wide variety of options, and relatively small dining quarters. that being said, the food is pretty tasty. i would recommend this place for a "not to fancy, but above average" date. if i simply want good italian food, i'll likely go to by-th-bucket. try something new - enjoy yourself.

ok food, too expensive. mio vicino has pretty good italian, nothing fabulous, but it's one of the only italian places near santa clara university besides pasta pomodoro.

the prices at mio vicino are outrageous. you would think you are paying for a 5-star meal! in short, unless you are ordering one of the cheaper menu items like a pizza or plan pasta, skip mio vicino and head to pasta pomodoro, which has food just as good at a more reasonable price.
