metro cafe

it’s been a long time i wanted to add brunch places to the blog, as i’m sure i am not the only one who does brunch every weekend as a religion. i have never seen something like this in other city like for example madrid, my hometown. in madrid or you have breakfast or you have lunch but something that substitutes both is not in our mid set. i guess it is a matter of meal hours.

i want to start the session with the metro cafe, which reminds me to the typical cozy coffee place you can find in your local neighborhood. a place where families have been going for decades as a weekend tradition. the only difference is that metro cafe is in the middle of dublin (south william street) so it belongs to the creative quarter. even if close to the touristy areas you won’t find many lost tourist having brunch here, but people who live around and come often, as myself. another good thing is that it is one of the places that opens the earliest, even in the weekends when sometimes it’s difficult to find a decent place for breakfast/brunch even at 10am. 

metro cafe is also the place for bacon lovers. you can find bacon in almost every dish! maybe not the healthiest of the options but definitely a place to go for a traditional brunch with different type of eggs and sausages. one of their specialties are the filled croissants with bacon (again), ham, cheese etc… from my point of view the best of the combinations between sweet and sour. 

if feeling like having a strong brunch that will give you enough energy for a shopping day, or if you want to enjoy a couple of hours for yourself while reading a book, this is definitely the place to be.

i finally got to experience metro café after walking past it a hundred times and hearing about how savage it is a thousand times from various friends. i wasn't planning on eating and found the mocha a bit gritty and cloying, so it definitely won't be rivalling my favourite coffee shop. i'll definitely be back for food, however, because sorcha's younger sister (fussy eater) wasn't a fan of her meal so i gladly helped her out with the bangers and mash i had heard such rave reviews of from sorcha. absolutely delicious and filling as well. simon had a chorizo stew thing which was also delicious and really flavorful, just the right level of spice. the prices are fair enough for the location and they have about as much outdoor seating as they do indoor, with a shelter out the front year-round so it's always a reliable smoker's haven to sit in and peer out at the people passing by.

cafe metro is a really good cafe , the location is perfect with a lot of tables outside, you can enjoying a good lunch or a good coffee!!! the price is a little expensive ,because the quality is normal!!!
i recommend cesar salad for lunch, they have a good scones too!!

all the food in here is class. eaten here many the time. the staff are extremely nice and the food is better. anything i've ever had from the menu is a 5/5. bangers and mash are a number 1 though. everyone should try it at least once

nachos were nice, not the best i've ever had but they were cheap and cheerful and did for a nice quick snack while shopping, nice atmosphere in cafe also, and staff were lovely!

i love this place! really nice staff and atmosphere! i'd recommend sitting outside and availing of a blanket so you can people watch! the food and coffee is good... sometimes i think the food is slightly over priced for what you get but definitely worth it for over all experience.

after trying the corned beef hash at the metro cafe its going to be hard for me to order anything else when i come back. this is one of the dishes that i really miss from living in the states so it was a welcome surprise to see it on the menu here as it's not that popular in dublin yet.
