when i saw how fancy the food looked, i was a bit worried that it would be more catered to the western palette. but my family loved it! my mum really enjoyed the eggplant and pork floss tempura, and we found many of the dishes delightfully spicy. the ingredients were fresh, and while the price is steeper than what we're used to, it's a good treat for special occasions, and we had a pretty filling meal.
we'd love to come back and try the other items!

the food was a solid 4/5 but the service was absolutely disappointing - so poor i have to give it a 2/5. we were ignored and eye rolled at by both waiters of the night. one of them started taking away our plates even though we clearly still had food on them. when we asked for the menu to see the desserts, the waiter eyerolled and walked away - we were never given the menu in the end. on a more positive note, the pork hocks and pork ribs were definitely the highlights of the night.

the best asian place?? well is ok, service is standard, our waiter was polite and friendly as it should always be. entries were good but nothing special. i tried the big plate to share entrees and a curry that we need it to change cuz was spicy and i was with my kid that is foodie but can’t tolerate spicy. the caramelise rise for 25 dollars i’ll do 10 times better at home. nothing special, a bit boring. presentation a bit poor. sort of cheap. still ok place to come and have a bite but nothing above the standard. there is better outside in the spicy alley to try yammi yammi food.

extremely disappointing. we have a 6 month old baby in a pram and got up to the restaurant (through the lift) and i haven’t said anything (not even a single word) the waiter (bald asian man) gave us the dirtiest look and said that “this restaurant is really not suitable for a pram”. i have made a booking before and told them i will have a pram with me which they’ve confirmed.

then he went on and said “ it’s up to you whether you want to eat somewhere else or i can ask my customers to move to give you room when you walk in. “
it is very unacceptable that the guy is beyond rude to us. how can you be discriminate to customer with a pram.

we didn’t even need to excuse anyone when we wheeled our pram in.
if not because my friend is visiting from overseas, i would just have dinner elsewhere.
you just ruin a mum who just want to have a nice dinner with her friends. and the fact that my baby is actually sleeping and won’t even disturb anyone plus the restaurant wasn't even busy 10 mins after we sat down, it’s despicable.

if you ever crave for decent pho whilst in ultimo, then mekong will not disappoint. it’s not the best we’ve ever had, but probably the best one you can find in the area.

we ordered the pancake too and found that it had a very strong coconut taste. the pricing here is a little bit on the higher side, but makes sense due to its location.

i went to mekong not long after it opened. i thought it was very impressive indeed. then friends booked for a staff christmas party and weren’t as impressed, so it’s taken me a while to get back. a friend, who’s moved overseas to spain, hasn’t seen this new street of restaurants and i thought it would be fun to show him, and i thought mekong would be a good choice, and offer food that he wouldn’t be able to easily find in madrid.

wcześniej była to nasza ulubiona resaturacja hong long. każde danie było pyszne, dużo surówki, dwa sosy do każdego dania, ogromne porcje, przy niewielkich cenach!
niestety mekong to jakaś kompletna porażka. pominę fakt pomyłek, makaron z kurczakiem, przyjeżdza bez kurczaka. nowe zamówienie po reklamacji wcześniejszego przyjezdza juz bez sosow! chyba nam sie nie należały. nikt nie uprzedzał, by przed uzyciem sosu sprawdzić zawartość makaronu. surówka dziwnie pachniala jakimis chemicznymi środkami, a w samym daniu czuć było samą kostkę rosołową (może pomógłby sos, którego nie dostalismy). i jeszcze ten absurd płacenia za opakowanie w dostawie. nigdy więcej.

you get the best of both worlds. with a stroll through spice alley, you get to embrace the atmosphere. but with mekong, you get a quiet high-quality dining experience right in the middle of spice alley. loved the food, drinks and friendly staff. would highly recommend this place.

food is hit and miss (amok curry was pretty good but they literally gave us a teaspoon of shredded duck for each duck pancake) but rating is low mainly because of the service

we booked as a group of 8, but split our order into 4 and 4 to make things easier. entree took 45 mins to come, then our main to an hour and 2/3 dishes were missing (we also ordered sides). we cancelled them because we didn't want to wait another hour for food.

at the end of the night, we realised we'd been charged a group surcharge even though our bill was split into two small groups of four. i don't see why, as its not harder than a normal table of four, but we didn't mind for the table that got their food. considering half our food didn't come we asked if we could have it waived and the waiter said no and told us 'but we took the mains off your bill' - yes, because they didn't come?

there are so many other places which taste better, have better portion sizes and serve you without trying to charge you for things you didn't get. would not recommend this spot.

first dinner after ease restrictions
mekong share plate.
grilled scallop using fresh coconut, bacon oil and yuzu chilli oil. spiced chicken satay: using house made chilli with peanut sauce. grilled tumeric catfish: well combine between betel leaf and onion, lime zest and roasted peanuts. seafood crepes: mungbean, coconut and chilli anchovy sauce and well combine with miso sauce with chilli for dipping.

burmese king prawns.
caremelized onion with tamarind, balsamic with watercress salad with crumbed prawns.

crab meat fried rice.
crab meat with chilli, onion cute widely so texture is nice, mushroom and shreded eggs so well combined and taste has sweet and sour.

chargrilled cambodian pork ribs.
traditional strong slaw and the pork ribs meat inside is not well combined ingredient so it gets strong smell of pork meat.. the ribs is soft and is not enough grilled.

best chicken satay entree i’ve ever tasted in my life!! sauce was amazing and meat was moist. wow!

steamed whole fish has delicious citrus sauce and fish was fresh.

was disappointed in duck pancake entree cuz duck pieces were tiny and dry. the veggies that came with it was fresh and tasty. loved the addition of pineapple. since duck was too small, i would not order again.

large prawn main (3 prawn pieces) tasted great and was fresh. only down side was for some reason, i thought it was going to b grilled, but it was actually deep fried tempura.....not sure if i forgot to read description or if it wasn’t specified in menu? but it did taste great with great sauce! so if u r ok with fried then it’s a go.

food is high quality and delicious. service as good.

the food was okay - tasty. what i didn’t like was that we waited 30minutes for our pork rib to arrive, meanwhile a new customer sitting on the next table got theirs in 10 minutes. ☹️

also, the waitress refused to give us a pitcher of water, though we only asked to save her the trouble of serving us. she gave a bottle of water at the end of the meal though (when we didn’t really need any water anymore)

very good atmosphere for almost all occasions. food was presented beautiful and tasted delicious. service was wonderful. the time between the entree and mains was a little bit long though but not a big issue.

very beautiful food. not sure if 100% authentic but the chef is really talented. we like especially the soft shell crab masala which had just the right amount of chilli hit, the clams poached in beer (the bacon adds a nice salty aftertaste) and the amok curry. highly recommended
