great beer & food. enjoyed this place. glad to see casual in west hartford center.

the place to be in west hartford. visited mcladdens last night. i was most impressed by the feel of the place. great vibe, and by the crowd i would say that i am not the only one to think this. we had dinner from a menu that reflects the casualness of the place. nothing fancy or too expensive and i think that is the point. there are plenty of great restaurants in west hartford center so if you are looking for fine dining go to briccos (they never disappoint) but if you are looking for casual pub food mcladdens is the place! i had the cod and chips and my friend the lobster mac and cheese. both were excellent. service was good, nothing fancy or notable but good. the bar selection is fantastic and the bartenders first rate. good, because that is where this place shines. glad to see this addition in west hartford center. it was sorely needed.

a great place to try the number of beers offered. it’s difficult to keep a track of the variety of beers available.

the ambience is of an english pub with long and normal tables. service is top notch with knowledgable waitress. the chicken was fantastic.

great beer, good food. can't help but love a place with 80+ beers on tap. menu is a bit more like denny's than what you'd expect from an irish pub, but what i had was good. will be back!

tip scam. save your receipt when you go to this restaurant! i went for a nice dinner with my fiance and left a $10 tip and when i checked my account 2 days later there was a $20 tip instead. i am a manager at my own restaurant and i know that servers manually put in the tips to the computer. i tip based on experience and this gentleman deserved the 15% tip i gave him not the 25% tip he gave himself. the owner refunded my money but never questioned who the server was so obviously no one was even talked to about this issue!

new menu takes it up a notch. i confess to being a somewhat regular on the west hartford dining scene. mcladden's continues to be my (and by the crowds, many others) favorite place to go for a great selection of drinks. having said that i must comment on some of the newer menu selections. they recently added a couple of new items that i have tried and they were notable enough to write another review.

first and foremost the rack of ribs are really that good! they are as tasty and fall off the bone tender as any famous rib place i have ever been to. two styles to choose from, regular bbq and an apple sauce like glaze. both great.

second, thank you for the addition of sweet potato fries.

finally, i have to say i tried the duck. something i generally would not order but was curious. very tasty, the berry sauce makes it.

tasty food. i have visited mcladden's on several occasions and each time have found the food to be exceptional. being an irish pub i had assumed the beer selection would be significant and the ambiance would be casual and i was not disappointed. the food was the greatest reward though, maybe because i was not counting on it. visit this place for the bar, live music and the general warm feel- but dont skip the food! i tasted the nachos, mussels, emerald salad and steak & cheese. all excellent. the steak & cheese has got to be the best in ct!

the not happy hour. five of us hang around on during happy hour at local bars. it's fun and usually not too expensive. so typically beer ranges from $3 - $5 in west hartford and there is usually wine for $5 to $7. food-wize it seems everyone has a slider option made popular by plan b.

mcladden's has all of the above. the difference between the 20+ decent happy hour places is the bartenders. at this place they are just wishing they were someplace else.

we ordered 5 pints to start off and were bsing about uconn. the place was not busy... basically had to track down the curly haired bartender with glasses. could we have another round? he looked at me like i was out of my mind. i really thought the sliders were good we had 5 plates of them and then when happy hour was over we had some real food. my meal was very good and the other guys liked their selections too.

they have popcorn maker there that makes popcorn to munch on. they have it all nailed... now they just need to bring in ted danson to make it the bar where everyone knows your name instead of the bar where the help calls you names.

beer!. only drank there. i have to go back and try the food. though not holding my breath. a good place to drink, but doesn't have the character of the half door. can't have too many irish pub's though.

great addition!. my husband and i adventured into mcladden's this evening for some dinner and drinks. we had heard some great things from some friends of ours and were interested to check it out for ourselves.. i enjoyed the fact that they had a full bar and were able to make my favorite ketel 1 martini and my husband was exstatic to see the what seemed like an endless amount of beer! for dinner we started with the nachos and for dinner my husband had the shepard's pie and i had the burger with rashers and sauted onions. the food was very good and the portions were well endowed.
if you're looking for a low-key yet west hartford class place mcladden's is the plaace to be. great addition to whc.
