maynards always pleases me every time. the ingredients are always fresh and prepared perfectly. everything is made in house so every dish not only has mastery but great quality. the atmosphere and space is so lovely and service is fantastic. maynards hits the marks on every category!

3 error lunch. on may 12, my friend and i ate lunch, for the first time, at maynards. we were charmed until...first, her onion soup was barely warm (they brought another that was hot and good). second, my toasted beet salad had no or scant dressing and 2, i repeat, 2 pomegranate seeds; the waiter brought out oil, vinegar and pomegranates. third, no one came to inquire (a manager not the waiter who was fine) how our meal was. i would have told him/her. finally, today i discover maynards had charged us twice. hince, this review. three strikes your out--and this was sort of four. diane

very good!. downtown tucson is pretty pathetic when it comes to places to eat...but maynards is the exception.

wife and i had lunch there. you order in the country market and then you find a seat. a waiter then brings you your drink and food. this concept works ok...

decor - very inviting and comfortable...a contemporary railroad themed dining room.

service - typical downtown waiters...does the bare minimum and then disappears

food - i had the cuban pork sandwich. extremely flavorful and tasty...only complaint was it greasy. wife ordered the grilled veggie sandwich. also very tasty. one thing about both sandwichs...the menu said baguette but they were both on cibatta...also it waould have been nice to have a choice of side...only chips and pickle were offered.

first time at maynard’s last night for my wife’s birthday. everything was fantastic. my wife had the fish special, a very flavorful sea bass which she loved. i had the beef short rib. amazing piece of meat and sauce. my wife had a complimentary delicious salted carmel ice cream treat for desert. service was first class. never felt rushed even though they were packed. you really need reservations.

we had a lovely breakfast while waiting for our amtrak train. we had fruit & granola and the baked oatmeal. beautiful patio area for a quick respite.

this is my third visit to maynards. this is my first review of it. my first visit was good. my second visit was fair. this last time was terrible.

we arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. service was very slow and lousy. martini was a half filled glass. bread came after our salads. the porkchop was fatty and small. my daughter had the duck - it was bloody rare and had to be sent back. management did not even follow up on the problem.

overall a terrible experience. i am done with this place.

what happened ?. well, i haven’t been in maynard’s since the change in management, so i went down to get my favorite steak that they used to serve in the afternoons. i was surprised to discover they only had hot and cold sandwiches and some salads. first of all you have to go inside and pay for the food before you get it. good thing for them, bad thing for the customer.

i ordered beef brisket. my wife ordered a tuna salad. and we thought we’d split a caesar salad. the dressing on the caesar salad was tasteless. i ordered anchovies and there were a few on there, but not enough. the potato chips, my 3-year-old daughter could have done a better job. these are the kind that look good but taste like paper. my brisket had a whole lot of horseradish that they didn’t talk about on the menu, and there wasn’t enough beef. a lot of bread though. my wife’s tuna fish was decent. best thing about the meal was the dill pickle, which i’m sure came out of a jar.

when the bus girl came up in the beginning, she definitely told us to go to the indoors and order, and we never saw her again of course! i ordered one of those ice tea’s that’s supposed to be black caffeine but is sweetened. don’t you just hate that? so i ended up getting a diet pepsi. no health drinks, no stevia. all in all, we were bummed out. i went to maynard’s because it was supposed to be a classy place, even in the afternoons. so be warned.

we ate at the deli for lunch. the location was really great, but the food not so much. the portobello sandwich was very strange- it was cold with boursin and pickled onions. the wheat roll it was on was overpowering and it just didn't work. mac and cheese from the deli case was bland, even the red velvet cupcake was dry! overall a major let down. too bad because with that location it could be a really awesome place to hang out. maybe sit there and just have a soda?

they suck.. there's a few things on their menu that work really well. their wine list is really lame, however. it's hard to park there and the atmosphere just doesn't work. all pretention and no subtance.
