my friend and i went to masu for the crayfish lunch platter yesterday. the environment of the restaurant is really fancy. the service is good. the food we offered is pretty average. we knew that $49 might be so cheap to have a meal at sky city, but we didn’t go here only for the fancy restaurant but the flavour as well. i think it’s good idea to have new style of japanese food, however tempura crayfish doesn’t taste good as grilled, because the tempura skin would cover most of the crayfish flavour. my friend and i both thought 4/10 is good ranking for the lunch if the price was $29. good for try, but please don’t expect too much.
my other friends insisted that the dinner is great there, so i might go back for dinner as other try.

hands down the best dining experience i’ve ever had.

we chose the masu shomi set menu which consisted of; 
- crayfish spicy miso taco
- chef’s 3 sashimi selection
- spicy sashimi tempura maki
- pork and kimchi gyoza
- salmon teriyaki
- tender stem broccoli
- lamb cutlets
- kumara w/ teriyaki glaze
- dessert platter
- birthday dessert (free of charge)

absolutely no complaints about any of the dishes as they were all perfect and presented beautifully.

the layout of the restaurant was simple and elegant albeit the proximity of the tables were a bit close, but understandable to be able to accommodate for the high demand.

the service was phenomenal with the all the staff paying great attention to detail while being extremely friendly and helpful.

a truly amazing way to spend my birthday.

we have been to masu several times and it’s one of our favourites - great atmosphere, excellent service, tasty beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic), stunning presentation, food is absolutely delicious. we went to masu for their crayfish tempura & sushi sashimi platter today, really like their nigiris and tuna tartare with avocado.

delicious and tasty food. one of the most friendly and lovely restaurants to dine in. loved their lamb and sashimi meals. the food presentation is excellent accompanied with a great dining atmosphere. loved dining here and enjoyed the meals very much ⭐️

fresh, delicious, beautiful.
this japanese restaurant is located right next door to the sky tower. their service is lesser than none, and ambiance better than most.
the place is pricy but worth a visit once in a while.
we especially enjoyed the fresh sashimi.
the pork belly had fantastic flavours and texture.
black wagyu steak melts in your mouth. i’m not much of a wagyu fan but everyone enjoyed it a lot.

had the opportunity to dine here yesterday with my family and was impressed by the warm service with minimal waiting time that was consistent throughout the entire meal. the highlight of the dinner was easily the salmon sashimi and pork charsiu - both of which i highly recommend if you’re visiting there!

in an alternate universe i would be able to eat here every night. and maybe for lunch too. must have: soft shell crab in squid ink brioche. but all the food is good. our fav is to let them do the choosing with the set menu. sure you won't be able to look at food for the next 24 hours. but it's worth it. trust me. plus the wait staff make you feel like a queen.

sushi platter was ok. pork belly & lamb cutlets was just a total let down, no flavour whatsoever, over cooked even i could’ve made a better dish at home. very disappointing since we were expecting amazing at a fine dining restaurant like masu. even our local japanese spot is a lot better than what’s suppose to be the best japanese restaurant in auckland. customer service was also a let down. no friendly smiles just a straight face. we paid 250 for a below average experience. y’all need to bring your prices down if the rest of your dishes are the same like the ones we ordered. this place is totally overrated & overpriced for bland food. don’t get what the hype is about, first and last.

nice one to present japanese cuisine in central of tourism
sashimi is fresh, wasabi is very flavourful
soft shell taco is on point
i just felt the wings and squid are boring
decor is amazing and great for special occasion

just been there for their lunch special today, food was ok but my wife got pricked by a spike which mixed in crab meet, only waitress passed the message from chef that the spike possibly dropped from other seafood like prawn, manager didn't even show up to say sorry, they offered free tea as a compensation but we are not interested to take any risk again so didn't take it. this is definitely my last time to dine in there, and will not recommend others to take the risk!

such a lovely restaurant with its pretty decor making you feel like you’re in japan. the staff were very friendly and prompt with service. would not pay $10 each for a bottle of sparkling and distilled water. just a tad overpriced if you ask me.

the food was great! had the beef fillet. it didn’t fill me up so i got the pork slider as well. it was unfortunately very noisy and to make matters worse we had a banshee sitting next to us...... she was literary yelling! also had the chocolate pudding which was similar to a fondant but not

went there and heard ordering al carte was disappointing so decided to go for the set menu at $88 and upgrade one set for the waguu beef which is quite common. you get quite a lot of dishes with the set and felt full afterwards. the wagyu was okay but not great so wouldnt really recommend it for $60ish but it was a nice experience. my dinnermate had actually recently went to japan and tried wagyu beef and her opinion on it wsnt a high grade. regardless i wouldnt upgrade the set if it was just for myself but in a group one upgrade per 1-3 is a good idea. the dessert was presented very well and the atmosphere and service was very good and attentive.

i’ve been here many times and masu never fails to amaze me. the food, the service and the atmosphere/ambience are all perfect. the staff are extremely friendly and patient and explain all the dishes to you in detail. the food is fresh and presented well.
