for sophisticated palates. i'm rolling my eyes at the tomfools who come to a mexican *seafood* restaurant, only to slag the place because they lack the palate to try anything beyond beef burros and are then scandalized because these are not americanized clones of the garbage they are used to getting from taco bell.
this place is insanely good. some of the best authentic mexican seafood we have ever had, anywhere. the flavours are intense, layered, and very sophisticated. we tried the red snapper frita veracruz style and the molcajete barba roja and were blown away by the gourmand flavour levels, the generous quantities and the colourful interesting plating. yet, it's presented as typical mexican peasant food at a price that will knock your socks off.
it's a greasy spoon with corny decor and loud awful music, but it's food to die for, provided you lay off the bland americanizations and try the exotic seafoods that they are famous for. the tender octopus in the molcajete and the complex flavourings of the snapper will have us coming back to try their other seafood dishes for sure.
