the tacos themselves are really tasty; there are dozens of options, and they do everything fresh and right there on the giant flat top behind the register.

ok breakfast tacos. eggs were overcooked and tortillas not fresh. there are better places out there

pork belly taco. was a omg taco!

chico taco very good.

bloody mary. so so.

sangria extremely good.

go for the taco’s there amazing!!!

great environment with great staff and even greater crowd. food was fresh and amazing. definitely would come again if ever in austin for vacation

super classic austiny austin weird classic. glad to see it has remained open despite all the surround new construction. entirely eclectic & exactly what i can imagine what austin was like before we all moved into town!

taco xpress, commonly referred to as maria's, is a very eclectic and unique place. feels very austin to me. the food is pretty average, but they have a nice salsa bar and full bar. you'll find fun special events like bingo during the week and great happy hour specials. a very large outdoor patio. it's a small space and counter service, so the food line can be really long. parking can also be tough, but they have a lot hidden behind.

i was here for the hippie church on a sunday. my god, this place is lively. there are tons of folks dancing around to the live band and having a great time. this place is iconic austin. i definitely recommend it. the food was alright, you order from the cashier and they call your name. it was a little clustered and mismanaged, but it turned out fine. definitely go on a sunday morning.

quesadilla de nopal & bandera were my favorite tacos. pollo guisado plate was okay & al pastor taco was good. it's a cool little joint with a great patio & stage.

maria's taco xpress is the bomb.  they have the best events, and of course- fabulous food.  i highly recommend ordering the pollo guisado and the buddha bowl.  hippie church on sunday's is always a fun time.

don't believe the hype. rude counter service followed by overpriced, non delicious food. 'atmosphere' isn't enough of a selling point when you're a drop in the bucket in austin's taco scene.
